I will be making my Costa Rica debut Dec 13-16th. It would be nice to see a friendly face when I arrive. I'll be getting in around 8pm and have reservations at the Morazon. Where is the best place to strike up a conversation with someone willing to give tips on mongering and CR in general? Looking forward to living the amazing stories I've read here...and avoiding the bad ones.

See ya soon!

Go to the Sportsmans, hang at the bar, buy a few drinks, and you will find plenty of knowledgable guys who know the scene..

Lets not forget the always helpful crowd at HLH also. I know i was always able to give some good advice while there, and could always get a group of guys together to go as a group to either SL or HDR, or even a trip to Relax, Idem and Eros.

I'm a younger guy(28) who is a disabled vet. I always love hearing the stories of guys who were in nam or any of the older conflicts. Are there any of those types I could buy a beer for in the gulch and soak up some war stories?

Better,
Just curious, why did you pick the Morazon? There are plenty of hotels where you can meet some of the guys and have chicas in the hotel bar. You will also get a discount with your CRT VIP card.

I know the answer. Better hasn't read the CRT board enough yet.

We all make mistakes. He'll have a great time if he will just reach-out for advice to any gringo on the ground at any of the venues.

And we'll ALL THANK HIM for his service to us.

Thanks guys! I picked Morazon before I knew about mongering. I'm actually moving to CR and just wanted to check out SJ. Also, that hotel was the only cheap one really available on the military site I used to book my reservation. I've also had some members reach out to me and offered to show me around. This should be fun. See you all in 23 days!

If you are a cigar smoker, stop by my Humidor Room at HLH.

The Sportsman is a good place for great conversation. You will also be close to Chubbs. If you want to talk to some old timers, walk across the street to Papi's. I'm sure it wont take you long to get settled in. Maybe I'll see you at the S.L.

Give me a shout.....I'm a much older Disabled Vet, newly single in Costa Rica....Not Nam old, but OLD.....I live here and might also be helpful...I'm taking a couple of 18 year-old non-pros to the beach Thursday but want to get to the SL to see Russ for some vitamins later in the week. How long you here for? I must have missed that detail.. (nevermind, I see it.)

Whatever happens, you are potentially in for the time of your life!

Slinky.

Thanks! Looks like I'll actually be there until the 18th. When I get in town I'll touch base with the many of you who have offered to show me around! Hasta pronto! I did just get worried about a comment I saw that was concerning my reservations at the hotel morazon. I am about to do a search on it, but I wasn't sure what the problem was. Do they not allow ladies?(will prob know the answer in a second)...

Edit- found my answer viewtopic.php?f=4&t=41921&hilit=hotel+morazon
