A few of us are going to take a van up to Pork Chop Hill for lunch next weekend. I was thinking about leaving about 11:30, but I just realized that there's a Syracuse-St. John's basketball game that day, starting at 11am. So, lets plan on meeting at SL and leaving at 1pm.

We still have a few spots open, so let me know if interested. "Maybe" is ok too, you can get in last minute if there's space. But if you confirm "Yes", please show up or cancel in advance. The last one we had, we had 2 guys not show and there were guys who wanted to go but I turned away because I thought we were full. I know plans change in CR by the minute, but please be respectful of the others.

As far as costs go, figure about $25/person ($20 for lunch and $5 for the van), give or take. We split everything evenly. Bring colones.

If you don't know what Pork Chop Hill is, click on the link above. It will take you to last year's invite and also some threads describing it.

Papa and wing man are in for grilled pineapple and giant pork stake. cooked over coals made from coffee trees and caressed by Tica virgins.

I have drooled over those pics of the chops grilling many a time.....how about some info on where this legend of culinary delight is located? Myself and two wings will be down March 6 through the 13th and will need to get out of the Gulch to catch some air. Thanks.

Yes, the official name is Donde Alcides. Gringos call it Pork Chop Hill, because they have great pork chops (among other things) and it's located up in the mountains.

Tell your driver that it is just past Ram Luna. They all know where that is. One other note unless things have changed they are only open on the weekend.

PS,
Are you talking about Pork Chop Hill? As far as I know they are open daily, 7 days a week. My inlaws live near there, and I have gone there on a weeknight a couple of times.

I still can't believe we managed to get through all of that food. Good thing everyone did their part. Excellent teamwork, good company, and good food. I had a great time and looking forward to a repeat next year.
