Looking for Hotels now but have not decided yet. Suggestions for a newbie that speaks very little spanish would been much appreciated. I have to work some during the day via the internet but nights are all mine! I have been to the DR 4 times and am looking for a different venue. Looking forward to MPs during the day and maybe a few ladies in the evening. I have have enough points to get a free room at the Sleep Inn but with out knowing the area I am hesitant to make a reservation yet. Any suggestions , as I said , would be greatly appreciated... as well as meeting up with a few mongers for a beer and advice. |

If you read the board you will see that the most suggested venues are: SL-- you said is booked La Amistad ( 5 minute walk from SL) Dunn Inn Hotel Little Havana (beautiful rooms and chicas at the bar and a great cigar room) Hosted by the FAMOUS Boyd!!!! I've used all of the above. Each is unique, and all are excellent. Other monger places ( I have no first hand experience with these): Hemingway Castillo Morazon Freebird |

I think the best idea is for you to do a search for threads concerning hotels. It will take a little extra work on your part, but whether I or someone else say this is great and the other place is great too has no meaning for you. I recently just completed my 1st trip to CR and previous to going I had read several posts on various hotels. It wasn't until I exhausted all the information that I could find was to post and ask more specific questions to make my determination of where to stay. In the end I narrowed down my choices between the SL and LA-both had some great CRT discounts, great reviews, were both within walking distance to the DR, and each did not have fees to bring the girls to your room. I could have chosen either hotel and it would have been a great choice, but decided on LA because of the 25% discount, Temperpedic Beds, and availability of the PH Suite for the dates I was in town; LA also has free calls to the US from the rooms. SL and LA are each different and it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. SL is more of a party atmosphere, but from what I understand it quiets down after midnight. LA is removed from the party atmosphere and is a great place to relax and recharge with all the events and happenings in all the other places. I can't say enough positive comments about my stay at LA. I got to know the owners of the Hotel (Matt) and Restuarant (Matt, Don, and Mike) all were very helpful. Staff of the hotel Rudy, Carlos, Jorge, and Jose were all very helpful and very attentive to for my questions or requests. I was in room 201 (PH Suite); bedroom with king size temperpedic, safe, flatscreen tv, bathroom with great shower pressure, jacuzzi, livingroom with 2 sofas, coffee table, phone, flatscreen tv, fridge, and dry sauna. This room does face the train tracks, but I did not find it bothersome--nothing earplugs can't solve if you think it could be an issue. Another note: Wherever you decide to stay, usually you will need to book in well advance of your trip to assure availabilty. USA |

Great advice from all. I am wingless.... I am hoping to meet a few experienced mongers (looking for a wingman )and tag along to DR or other hang outs to help me assimilate to the difference between Dominican Republic and CR I have requested a reservation at HLH so we will see. I am going to call today if I do not get an email back from Boyd. It seems, based upon my reading on this board, that they have a good internet connection. During the mornings I will need to be online for my job for a few days and I need a stable internet connection. My back up plan is to stay at the Sleep Inn and pay the fees if all the good choices are booked..... ![]() |

How sad is this? I am sitting here in Las Vegas watching the play off games but still reading the forum wishing I was in CR. Wow! Had a few Casino girls trying to proposition me for $400 for an hour. I laugh so hard at one she got real pissed off and stormed away and security scooped her up after she started cussing at me. I cannot wait to get to the CR in a few weeks to have 4 Ticas for that price! Harry |

HLH is great place to stay for all you newbies there are plenty of CRT staying there. They will answer any question you may have concerning the Chicas in Costa Rica and beyond. Boyd is a fantastic host and the Chicas are really sweet. It is the place to get your experience to become a seasoned veteran. |
