Hey guys -

My second trip down to beautiful CR is here. Flying in very early sunday the 27th staying to sun march 6. Thinking about a few days in SJ trying to catch a few ticas then a few days in Tamarindo or Jaco trying to catch a few fish. Flying solo so let me know if you wanna grab a few beers.

No plans yet (haha) but thinking about staying at Dunn or Amistad, then figuring something out near the beach. Open to all suggestions!

I just returned from CR a couple days ago, and spent some time in SJO, and some time in Guanacaste (Tamarindo, Flamingo, Playa del Coco). We were planning on fishing this past Saturday (Feb 19th), but the winds were stiff, making the seas real rough. Plus, when we factor'd in the full moon last weekend, along with the poor fishing reports over the past couple weeks, we decided to scrap the offshore trip and just jump on some ATV's for the day. I don't mind getting my ass kicked with 5' - 6' seas, as long as the fish are chewin'. But if the bite is off, it makes for an awfully long boat ride.

My recommendation would be - if you want to catch fish, you've got to head towards Jaco / Quepos. The billfish bite is improving to the South, and you'll be in town during the new moon, so you should be able to raise some fish. Plus, there's always a chica or two hanging around that part of the country, so you might even getcha some luvin' too! :o

When you return from your trip, let us know how it went.

Buena Suerte,
MG

Sí mi compa MG- we caught a 90lbs. sail. a 120 lbs. sail and a 30 lbs. dorado on Monday the 14th-had another sail on but it got off (a double) out of Quepos, however the "chicas" there are a lot more on the "mature" side and almost all were of the "fugly" variety. Plan on bringing your own. I have one for my next trip there or to Guanacaste.

My last trip I stayed in Quepos/MA, and it was beautiful. I'd heard good things about Tamarindo though, so I figured I'd try a new area. No worries if there's not too many chicas, I'll get my fill with a night or two at the start and end of the trip in SJ.

You think the bite is better to the south? If it's similar, does anybody know some good charters out of the Tamarindo area?
