I'd like to purchase (gift) a cell phone in San Jose for a Costa Rica resident. I'd guess that all the cells sold there should have the required 1800 frequency for Costa Rica use.
Since My trip is rather short, my question is where to shop for a cell phone that is reasonable in price - or where not to shop for ones that are outrageous in price. I hear there's a Walmart downtown (?) - is that an option?
(Rereading this, I can see where some of you wags might substitute "chica" for "cell phone" - but hold off for now on that, this question is legit - and we can always discuss the chicas later over a beer at SL. )

In Mall San Pedro there are alot of shops. Buy something cheap though, unless you are in love.
The prices here are double U.S. prices. Or buy an unlocked 3 or 4 band Nokia on eBay before you go.
