When you get to the taxi stand outside baggage just look for your mongering type vs Eco Type Tree hugger tourist. And split one not hard man.

I used interbus this time based on the recommendations I have read on the board. It worked perfectly. At $9.50 it is a great alternative to the taxi's

I second that motion put forward by Dan357- I to used interbus when I was there in Sept. It's the best deal going at $9.50 especially for pick up from the airport to your hotel -- now I also used interbus for the ride to the airport from the hotel, my departure flight was at 2pm and interbus picked me up at 9:30am from the hotel so I had some time to kill at the airport other than that how can you beat $19.00 around trip to and from the airport.

link to website below - on time pick up, the only person in the van both ways - tip- don't worry about having them waiting for you if your flight in is late as they radio the driver to pick you up only after you check in with the interbus representative holding a sign with your name on it just outside the airport- I was able to get my sim card at the I.C.E both and liquor and crossed over to the departure side of the airport to exchange my money at the little bank both and than checked in with the interbus rep, he radioed the driver waited 10 minutes and off to the hotel all paid for in advance - it was a beautiful thing - thanks is owed to the CRT brothers who shared this info on the board before

Thanks for the info jdove & dan357. I was hoping someone on that flight staying at the SL was willing to split the fare... but this seems to be a great option... i've been to CR 14+ times and am always looking for a way to save some $$

So booking the shuttlebus on line now is actually working? I remember reading many a post where members talked of difficulty. If you follow the prompts will it be confirmed? Can anyone who used it "recently" verify this?
Thanks,
Jac

I used it about a week ago and it worked okay. I used the pay with paypal option. They mentioned something on there about having to book a few days in advance of when you want to be picked up. For the return trip to the airport I entered the flight time for the plane and it set my pickup time from the hotel as 4 hours before that.

Whether you book Interbus through Shuttlebus or their own website, you have to book about 3-4 days in advance. It does not matter what payment option you choose.

The return to the airport is very early (as stated 4 hours before your flight). What you can do is put in a later flight time and they will pick you up 4 hours before that, keeping in mind that they may have to pick up other passengers on the way, so don't count on going directly from your hotel to SJO. (I have only been on the bus with other passengers once out of about 15 trips from the airport.)

Real close! Someone told me they paid c14k and change last weekend with an orange cab!!

Thanks to Sr's advice, I always grab a red cab upstairs after exchanging money, havent paid more than c8000 yet. It's always amazing how fast you get to your hotel on a flat fee

If a cab is going back to SJ centro empty, 5K will pay for his gas for the day, so most will take it.
