Well after months of research and reading posts I have made it official and will be traveling to the land of the wonderful ticas! I plan to feast on milk and honey :D You guys have really put together a nice website here and I appreciate all of the help. I have the basics down and I hope that I am good to go. I dont know much spanish but I think I can get by. I did read the post with the phrases that are needed for negotiations and introductions. So take a cab everywhere, stay alert, dont settle for less, lock everything up, keep ur eyes on ur stuff, keep ur eyes on the ladies  , keep it wrapped up and I should be fine. I am sure I left out some others but if I keep my wits about me I should be fine I can blend in well and not look like the typical gringo. This has been a long time coming as I have been in Afghanistan for a year now and I need these few days really bad so look out for me guys, hopefully I'll meet some of you and see you guys around :!:

hey i am staying at the SL and I was wondering will any of you experienced gentleman be around? Just looking for some tips a little convo from some veterans as I am a rookie and this will be my fisrt trip. Ill be happy to buy you guys some drinks for some pointers but the rest is for the chicas  So what is the nearest beach and I am just looking to lounge on the sand for a while then get back to the chicas. How often do the cabs run all night? And is it easy to get a cab late at night after leaving a strip club or pickup bar? It looks like the strip clubs on the bottom of the map are a good ways away from my hotel. Just some thoughts and opinions if u guys dont mind

Antcarr09: Welcome to the board
The nearest beach would be Jaco. It is about 2-2 1/2 hours by car, traffic permitting. If you wake up early and leave by 8:00am it is a nice day trip and you can be back in San Jose by 6:00pm or a little later which will give you plenty of time.
Or if you book a hotel for the night and stay you can hit the infamous Beetle Bar, plenty of selection but may not be as good quality, and then drive back the next day. If you hire a driver you're looking at around $150.00 for the day. Try to negotiate a better price.

Cabs are available 24 hours a day and the doorman at an establishment will get one for you. Watch it though because sometimes the doorman and the cabby are working together and will jack the price up on you. Make sure the cabby uses the meter. If you hire a cab at the hotel you may be able to negotiate a better rate and he'll wait around for you, or pick you up a certain time. You may ask for his cell phone number and play it by ear as to what time you leave and then call him/her.

PM POPS. He runs a wingman service and hangs out at the SL.

With it being your first trip there will be plenty of other mongers around. Check through the board and see who lives in San Jose, send them a PM letting them know you'll be in town. It is a great group of people on this board and many are more than willing to help out.

Wish I could be there. I know you'll have a great time.
