Hey all. I don't post much, but I do enjoy reading about all of your "adventures". I'm going to be down in CR 8/16 to 8/22 at the Sportsmen's Lodge. I'd especially like to take one of those MP day tours I read about earlier. Let me know if anyone's rollin'! |

I'd like to take an mp tour with one of the vets, or even a newbie, makes no difference to me! The zip-line idea isn't bad either. I'm about 6'1" 270 pounds. Think the line (or tree) would snap on me? |

WarCriminal, I've done the zip-line several times and you need to know this. Even though you're in a full harness, zipping along on a cable from platform to platform, it's still a pretty good workout. It's called a "canopy tour" for a reason. You're in the canopy of the jungle / rain-forest. There is little to no breeze and it gets hot as hell. Plus, depending on which canopy tour you choose - some of them you have to do a little hiking uphill from one platform to the next. And it's hot as hell, and you'll be sweating like a pig. Also, some of the cables are a 6 or 7 feet above the platform, so you have to lift yourself up high enough to clip your "roller wheels" over the top of the cable, so some arm and upper body strength is important. And did I mention - it can be hot as hell ?!?! The canopy tours that I've done have been in Guanacaste, so maybe it's not as hot at the ones outside of SJO. It's still a lot of fun, but it does make for a bit of a work-out. Have fun! MG ![]() |

Warcriminal, IMHO, you will have to do the Canopy Tour at least once. I have done that in SJO and Tamarindo area. Similar experiences in both places..... but I have no real interest in doing the same thing over again for a while. Also, my larger friends (220-240 lbs) didn't have any problems doing it. It was really exciting (and a little scary) the first time. I think you should try it at least once if you have the opportunity. |
