Post subject:  need your opinions. new to cr but not the chica's 8-12 8-23

hello everyone. great travel site! it reminds me of a local site in cali sfredbook. i am new to cr but have been hobbying for some time in cali and mexico. i have looked at many of the comments for the past few days and would like your opion on a few things. initially i planned my trip to cr to look at some property in the jaco area but after viewing crt i think my focus has changed to the chica's. allthough i still need to spend a little time checking out some properties.

i had already made arrangements for a condo in jaco allthough i had planned on staying in sj for a day or two in order to be near the airport for an early (6 am) departure. through crt i see that most or all of the fun is in sj. it appears that the beetle bar is about it in jaco.

i had already been communicating with a chica who lives near sj for a few weeks in anticipation for the trip. our conversations and her photo's have been great but you never know until the meeting. she says she would like to come stay in jaco with me for as long as i desire. her daily was reasonable at around 50k colones.

one of my concerns is flying solo in cr. allthough i have hobbied in mexico solo many times before with just one or two bad trips (corrupt police) sometimes unavoidable there, i was a bit concerned after reading some of the reports about sj and jaco. don't get me wrong i have no problem taking care of myself and i don't do the drunk thing (don't drink). doubt i act like a tourist except the poor spanish but will have a hard time not looking like a tourist (6'2", 190 lbs., blonde, blue).

i would appreciate an opinion and or any advise from those who have some experience in jaco and sj.

also, if i stay a few nights in sj what are the three clubs an three mp's that i should definitely visit. and a decent place to stay. my search would suggest the sportmen's lodge may have all the elements? any additional info on jaco would be great too.

btw, i will certainly help keep the donations down for all of us. lots of practice in mexico. if it's not a deal i should just stay here in cali where it has become a buyers market for hobbying! who knows if cali continues on its current path it might become the next cr?

i also have rented a vehicle while i'm there to look at property. when i visit sj i guess it's best to park it at safe location or the hotel if i stay the night and use taxi's? i always regret having a car on trips like this just another thing to deal with but i will need for part of the trip.

thanks in advance guy's, maybe i will see a few of you in the trenches but if you see me dinning at the y please let me finish my meal!

Ok, so if I understand you, you want some info on SJO, Jaco, safety, MP's, P4P places and driving.
First, San Jose is a great party town for whatever you want.
Where to stay in San Jose for a first timer who wants to be near the action, I would suggest either the Del Rey, (crappy hotel but it "IS" the action) Sportsmens lodge, more laid back with working chicas in a great mongering environment, the Sleep Inn very near the Del Rey/Blue Marlin Bar which again is where the chicas are as well as most of casinos. Sportsmens might be tough to get a room at this stage but you never know. The Mansion wing is where you want to be as the rooms are nicer and it's more tranquil than the courtyard at Sportsmens. La Amistad is a great place but for a first timer you'd be better served at any of the other aforementioned.
Where to go: MP's There are higher end and lower end, Hotel Little Havana formerly known as Zona Blue used to be the best place IMHO for women and a great time, today it's a hit or miss. Nice bar but pricey, good rooms and you can find some really fun girls there. Roughly $55 for an hour unless you're CRT VIP and that knocks off about 8 bucks or so. Another must see is New Fantasy, AKA the Fishbowl because the chicas sit on couches and you can look thru a glass and see if anything tickles your fancy. The rooms are below average to average, price is less than HLH, they have a steam room if you're interested but shower is not in the room. This place is very near the Sportsmens, an easy walk in the day time. A 3rd would be IDEM, I haven't been but the board discusses it favorably asie from it's cost which is a little higher than some others. As for P4P the primary place is The Del Rey / Blue Marlin hotel and casino. This is something every grown man should see once in his life. Open 24 hrs but best around 8pm to 12am or later on weekends. Directly across the street is the Key Largo bar which you'll see chicas go back and forth from the Del Rey to KL all night. If you like music or dancing this is a cool place and the girls are sometimes a little more laid back here. The 3rd P4P is The Sportsmens Lodge. Chicas do work daytime but it's best around 6pm til 11 or 12am whenever the bar closes.
As for Jaco, it's more sketchy at night than SJO IMO but if you take a cab everywhere at night,(1000-2000CR anywhere in the town) you'd be fine. The Beatle Bar has changed in the past year and the town has changed alot in the past 6 years. The Beatle is "THE" P4P scene but chicas can be found next door at the Monkey bar (younger crowd and more hoodlums) and really anywhere they serve alcohol or dance. Some places are fun to dance if you bring a chica in and like to party. They pat you down upon entry at alot of them, if that bothers you, don't go. Most of the girls from BB move to Nacho Daddys when the BB slows down or closes for the night but there are Discos and bars off the beaten path but i'd stay close to the BB if I was solo and was a first timer. Backyard Bar a little further south (10 Min) in Hermosa, and is good on Weds and Saturdays I think but ask someone before you go about which nights.
Regarding safety, don't flash money, jewlery, have a big mouth, walk at night by yourself, get hammerred and stagger around and you should be fine. I have NEVER had a problem in either SJO or Jaco although once in Jaco a couple of trannys tried to pk pocket me thinking I was drunk. I'm 6'1" 205lbs and pretty fit and when I grabbed the wrists of one of them and tossed him into his pal, I quietly said don't fu*kin touch me, they went on their way. I was by myself, walking late at night so it wasn't the smartest thing. Take a red "legit" taxi at night and it's very safe. If you stay downtown in SJO at any one of the places I mentioned DR or Sleep Inn, you wont have to go anywhere else at night. ie; no need for taxis. SL requires a taxi ride to get downtown at night. It's an easy walk by day. Jaco is a beach town by day, walk where you want but take a taxi at night. As for renting a car, good luck. The drivers in the city are horrendous. The drive to Jaco is winding thru the mountains and can be dangerous but take your time and as long as you're outside the city it's cool. I hire a driver to Jaco then rent once I get there. Coastal driving is very easy. Take all the insurance they offer cause they look for everything when you return the car. Had a cop shake me down years ago while driving but nothing in the past 5 years or so.
If I were setting your trip, I would say in San Jose, stay at Sportsmens (no Chica fee) and great guys at the bar with tons of info and most likely a wingman. Find an experienced wingman and listen. If not then the Del Rey (small Chica fee 10$ per girl) or Sleep Inn (25$ chica fee) but very safe. Use a taxi in the city and only rent a car from the airport which places you outside the city closer to Jaco when you're ready to go. In Jaco, stay close to the Beatle Bar for girls, if you drive, park close to the front and take your chica from there to your rental. You say you have a condo, if it's in the city you're set but some of those are outside the city which isn't ideal. I stay at Canciones del mar in Jaco, on the beach right down the street from the BB. Close, safe and a great value. If you bring your girl from the city then it's no sweat cause you probably won't hit the BB. Not sure i'd take a girl i'd never spent time with although price was very good. Use common sense and you wont stand out that much, there are alot of us 6ft+ blonde gringos over there. Knowing spanish is a big plus. I'll be there with 2 wingmen from the 11th thru the 15th, staying at La Amistad, will be at SL for drinks on the 12th around 8pm. I'll be the 6ft gringo, blue eyes hanging with the chicas and my boy who looks like across between Jayzee and Obama. Say hello if you're there. Hope this helps, Bueno suerte amigo

Post subject:  jacoret's bringing jzbama to cr

that was great! excellent info and great close! so i guess if i hit the bar at the same time as you i will just look for my twin and jzbama. like i said earlier i originally wasn't aware of the best place to locate so i opted for the area where i was considering looking for property. i have to say i have been a bit dissapointed in the info i am getting about jaco for a place to have a 2nd home but i already booked the condo. the condo is on the beach in south jaco. i'm locked in for 10 days at least financially. so i will just use it as home base. i will definately spend as much time in sj as i can but will have to look at some homes and take pic's to justify the trip to the s.o. back in cali. i am excited to try a new place. it's been awhile since i have been to tj, mexico. not too safe lately. i reserved the car from hertz at the airport for the entire trip but may change that somehow. i was a bit concerned about the insurance in costa rica. called my agent and said my policies don't help accept for liability if i match the limits with hertz. as for the chica i've been talking to, i figured i would meet her for lunch or something away from where i'm staying and feel her out. if she is as cool as our communication thus far i will spend a few days with her while i'm in jaco looking around. do you know what the chicas in the sj clubs normally want for entire night?

thanks again that really was great info.

No sweat on the info. I live in Mia and plan trips for all my buddies several times a year down there. In June I took about 20 guys and set the whole thing up as an eco adventure tour. It was eco during the day and adventure during the night! LMAO Anyway, I have always liked Jaco. 6 years ago when it was a sleepy surf town i started going and had a blast. Then the construction started and it's pretty commercial now. One thing I noticed on my June trip is that the building has stopped on alot of projects and there is no heavy equip. on site. This according to my contractor friends is a sign that the money has dried up so be careful when buying. South of Jaco in Esterillos Oeste they have developments. It's an easy drive and if I were going to purchase, I would look there as oppossed to Jaco. It's between Jaco and Quepos but still laid back and I think better buys.
Now for the girls, as they say your milage may vary YMMV. After 6 years, I have girls I date depending on where I am. What I pay is for the vacation. ie; food, fiesta and room but no nightly rate. Then I see others who are in the business who sometimes we spend all my vacation time, and although we don't discuss price I give them anywhere from 70-100 per day but that's for everything and all day and night. This is only after I have gotten to know them from repeat visits. One of my favs in the business always wants me to stay at her house but it's in the hood and not the most comfortable for me and although I have done it a few times, I usually beg off and we stay at a room I book. In San Jose a TLN can be had from anywhere from 100 to who knows??? Some girls get to the room, have a great session and ask if they can stay. I think they have sh*t conditions at home or just don't feel like traveling after. Just clarify that you don't mind but the deal is what it is. Others will ask 250 or more but today I would think that you can find TLN for about 100-150. Remember they all ask cien for the hour, that's laughable and most know it and immediately come down off it. I would suggest partying with a girl, sessioning, see how it goes and guage "HER" interest. Remember too that the colone today is exchanged at like 585 per dollar but still calculated by most as 500 per dollar ie; 1000 colnes is 2 dollars. So now it makes sense to negatiate in dollars and then pay in colones. Say 80 then ask can I just give you 40,000 colones? they usually say no problem. It saves a few bucks. Well again, hope this helps and I will be in the Sportsmens on the night of the 12th around 8pm so wherever you stay, stop in and look for me and my wingmen.
