This is my first trip to Costa Rica. Going with 7+ family and friends. All young men who has never been a place like this before. Going for some nature and mostly females. Any and all advices are welcome. Planning on staying at SL.

Also, what can i do there besides finding girls? Any specials and cheap way to have other fun so to save more on females?

Staying at the SL is a pretty good first option, but I would HIGHLY recommend you try to switch to the HDR. You will constantly have a selection of chicas available and it is literally ground zero for nearly all of the action. Having stayed at the HDR several times, I have moved on to the SL since the HDR is too noisy and smokey for me and knowing that the HDR is walking distance away.



There are plenty of day and 1/2 day (tourist) tours available through most hotels for $50 to $100. Some of the CRT posts may recommend certain tour providers if you do a search or PM some members. I've always used the hotel concierges (more expensive). The best way to have "cheap" fun would be to join CRT and print off the MP map and create a walking tour that starts around Noon and goes until dusk. MPs vary in price, but the map has a listing of what you can expect. The other option is booking one night at the HLH and getting the 25 per hour rate. You will want to check the talent at the HLH first.

You walk in the HDR with 7 young gringos and those chicas are going to see you coming a mile away. The only thing that would make it worse, it actually staying at the HDR.

While some guys think that's a great place for a newbie to stay because of the convenience, I think it puts a mark on your back for business.

I agree, you are fine at SL. Since there are 7 guys, you may want to contact BangBang who is quite the expert on MP's. I will also be in town at that time and I go regularly to the MP's. I'd have no problem taking you guys around (I'll be going anyway). My first trip was last Nov, then Apr and now July. Get ready for an addiction. 3 days might not be enough. You might want to consider extending your trip especially if you want to do some tours and experience the ladies. Unfortunately, I have not done any of the tours. I know there is a volcano (the closest I've gotten to it was a picture on the internet, although I have experience quite a few eruptions in my hotel room, good enough for me). There is a rain forest (I figure the collection of trees in the park between my travels from SL to HDR is good enough, especially when it is raining outside). With 7 guys you might want to go ATVing (once again $100 to ride a bike versus riding a chica, ATVing loses all the time).

I would recommend enjoying a lady at a MP and SL before venturing into HDR. MP's are a set price and the women are friendly at SL. If HDR is your first stop, imagine Conan tied to the "Tree of Doom" with vultures picking at his body. You could be Conan and the vulture would be a beautiful chica. These ladies are professional seductresses. it is their job. From what I gather as far as prices, $70 - $75 should net you some good quality. I personally do not negotiate down to $50 only because I figure these ladies are trying to support a family. I have no problem helping them out since they are most definately helping me out. But, to each his own.

Always pay afterwards. If they want to leave, let them. You will find others. You might think "this chick digs me, thinks I am cute". Even Randy Johnson is a cutie as long as he has money.

Thanks for letting me know you'll be there around that time. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting you and learning from your wisdom. We're not gringo's, we're asians who can pass for latinos at times. So hopefully that helps. Most of us are on a budget, which is why we're only staying for the limited amount of days. I will be taking all advices on how to spend wisely and have fun other than ticas. Thanks again.

So? I stayed at the the HDR my first trip. I was a tad over 30 and had the time of my life. Did I over pay? Damn straight!. Did I make mistakes? Oh hell yes! Did I have that new monger smell about me? Could not wash it off! Would I ever stay there again? Oh hell no.

Its a fantasy land that most guys will experience once or twice in their life. Let them have their fun and live like rock stars for a few days. Yeah, we all know what the HDR is and are a tad jaded about it but for first timers its heaven on earth so let them enjoy.

Like I said, I do not know much else but the chica scene and I do not even know the half of it as the others do. I will definately take you around. I think the MP's should be a good low budget first stop. I will be there July 5 and will have the MP's scoped out by the 8th. I will tell what I saw and let you guys decide where you want to go. I am not very picky about where I go and I will have some photos for you. Anyways, I will have been there for three days already drugged by the ladies charm. We can go by HDR and you will have already seen SL ladies and you guys can take it from there. If you want to negotiate down, I will help in any way. I am fluent in spanish so communications will be easy. I heard there is some kind of gliding you can do in the forest. I suggest you go online and look up CR and tourist activities. Then come back to this site and do a search to see if the guys have any info. Now if you think "I am asian but look latino" is going to fool any of these professionals, not. There is a thread in the newbie section covering the addiction "A serious warning for first time visitors/mongers". It is very true, very true. As far as joining CRT, I will give you my opinion. I am glad that I did. When I was deciding, there was a side that was skeptical because it is the internet. I did the simple calculation, one week stay less 10% was greater than the $40 so I joined. You will read that some wished they would have joined lifetime in the beginning (I guess to save some money). The amount of information on this site for an activity (chicas) that I love proved to be invaluable. When I renew it will be a lifetime membership. Whatever you do is your business. The important thing is to go down there and have a good time. There is a lot of info on the newbie site. To be honest, after a while it gets a bit confusing because of the many opinions under a topic. It makes more sense after you have been there. Let me know if you need any info.
