I'm staying at SL for my first trip this week, checking in tonight.

So far I've been getting ripped off left and right(cab drivers, etc). I look like an obvious tourist(Asian guy in his mid 20s) and speak very little spanish.

I could use a wingman, since judging by how I'm getting ripped so far, the chicas will def not be cheap.

my advice is to go sit at the bar in SL and initiate conversation with just about any guy there.
just walk up to a group of guys standing there laughing and talking and say this is your first time and i think you'll be surprised. good luck

Newbie,

Just completed my first trip and empathize somewhat with you. Not being alone though helps, but what I learned from this board and used was that there are thousands of cabs in San Jose and to use the metered ones that are working. The ones I rode started at 430 colones and should take you to the Del Ray area for no more than about 600 colones or so. Others will quote you a set price of around 2000 colones. Ur choice. they will both get you there. Very good advice for getting a wingman at SL. There always seems to be several guys alone and would probably welcome the backup.

Stay safe and use you head and instincts in negotiations and you "will" have a good time.

dude, you will be OK, visit a couple of MP's and then try some one on one pickups at the SL or Del Rey.

you will make plenty of friends at the SL, also try the happy hour at the Del Rey when some of the resident members gather for drinks and chat.

If you are still in town this Saturday, step outside your hotel room and join a bunch of CRT'ers for happy hour.

just completed my virgin tour (stayed out a ways in Cariari, not close to anything) - my bud wants to stay at the DR for the obvious location ($91 a night) and I want to do the SL.

Can Anyone help with the PROs/Cons of SL vs. HDR?
