My 15th trip is coming sooner than I'd expected. I had 42,000 Delta Skymiles, and wondering if they would get me anything, started searching on Delta's site (I pretty much use Delta to get to CR, as their flights work best for me). Much to my surpise I found a bunch of options for only 35,000 miles plus a $114 fee. Most though involved a 12+ hour layover on the outbound and/or inbound legs, but by doing some tweaking I found the sweet spot which resulted in the dates I wanted, my home airport and no super-long layovers. The flights are actually on NWA and Continental (how I love airline partnerships) with two stops, Detroit and Houston, but I have plenty of time between each flight. I don't mind as the equivalent normal-purchase fare for the same dates was $770 or $860. :D Couldn't pass this up, makes for a nice mid-December break between the end of the college football regular season and the start of the bowls.

Staying at the Amistad again, $69 room minus 25% CRT VIP weekly rate discount makes for a $51.75 room. :D

That special is still good? I thought is was a sept/oct deal only.

No, that's the normal weekly rate discount (15% daily). The special was 35%.

Hiker,
Noticed a mention of rafting in another post. I will be in country Dec 13 - 23 and would be interested in that also. Is your trip all booked up or might others join in? Can you provide some details.

Reride, on longer trips I always like do a Pacuare river rafting trip. Nothing's set, I just wait til I'm in SJ then book a trip at my hotel for whatever day I want.

If you don't know the Pacuare, it's the top river in CR for whitewater rafting. Several class IV rapids, some IIIs, and a whole lot of IIs. Lots of companies do this one.
