Post subject:  First trip to CR - Jaco/SJ

First let me say thanks for the abundance of information that has been shared in this forum. I have been reading through these posts since my friend informed me he booked this trip 3 weeks ago.

We will be in Jaco Oct. 1st - 5th and will finish the trip at the Del Rey on our last 2 days.

The only questions I guess I have right now would be does anyone have experience with bringing talent back to their condo from BB for TLN? And Is it safe right now with the current talk of raids at the BB?

I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong place as I am a newbie!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

First, welcome to the board.

Why Jaco? Is it for the beach? The beach sucks and the water is polluted and smells bad. You will be kicking yourselves in the ass for wasting 5 days in Jaco and only booking 2 days in SJ. I'd say go 2 days in Jaco then 5 in SJ. If you don't, please come back and tell us all about Jaco.

The condo thing shouldn't be a problem for most girls. I know from experience that there are girls in SJ that only go to hotels, but it's a very small percentage. There may be a few in Jaco too. I wouldn't worry about it though.

As long as you carry a photocopy of your passport bio page and the page with the entry stamp, you shouldn't care any less about any raids. It's not like you are an illegal hiding from immigration. Show them your papers and they can kiss your ass.

You will have a good time, but use your head. Read this post first, it may save your life. :P Well, maybe not, but it will give you a lot of info about different aspects of your trip: https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16357

Orange, Thanks for the quick reply.

My buddy is retiring early from the NYFD and was interested in aquiring some real estate down there. I have heard and read about the horrid conditions of the beach but his contact is in that area. + We leave in 6 days.

This is pretty much an excuse to get away from home and get a little crazy! Mix a little business with a bunch of pleasure

I have read the post from the link you sent and will definately share the info. with the other 3 mongers I will be traveling with.

Advise your friend not to blow his life savings on some over-priced over-developed property in piss poor Central America. There are tons and tons of horror stories about gringos getting ripped off or taken. Some of the condos in Jaco are close to NYC prices.

I really don't think he has any intention of buying anything.

It's pretty much the excuse we are using to get the hell out of Dodge!!

I had a perfectly enjoyable 3 days in Jaco. I live 1 mi from the beach in fla so I hung by the pool @ the Copa. Read my book, drank some beers, checked out the occaasional talent that passed through. Evenings @ the BB. Four GIGANTIC sailfish the next day, white water rafting the next. It's hot, but it's a change of pace.

Make sure they take the chica's cedula (ID) at the front desk or guard shack at your condo. Most places will keep them until morning and make the chicas pick them back up. This keeps the ones with sticky fingers in-line  If she does not want to leave her ID...leave her there at the desk :!: :!: Have fun :D

I like Jaco, but more than a day or so probably is a little too much unless you plan to get out of town a bit for other activities.

FYI: If Jaco is your "excuse", you may want to consider day trips from SJ. You get all the countryside pics to bring home. A few photo's of some "nice places"...

One buddy went down with the same game, we went AV', White Water, Artisan thing... Plenty of photos.

IN FACT, with some limited photo's, you may find that Quepos is where you should have looked this trip! Excuse to return!

I'm an huge golf fan and love to fish. I've been there at least 20 times now in the last 10 years. I think I've been to the golf course twice, fishing never...
