So, out of the six guys headed with me to CR for my 40'th, guess how many backed out. That would be six. Here is a collection of their sorry ass reasons:

"Sounds kind of sketchy"
"I don't speak Spanish"
"Why don't we go to Vegas?" (Wow, you phucking wild man).

Anyway I guess I'm flying solo and headed to Jaco 10/16-10/19. I am an experienced hobbyist and a veteran of the Baja and European scene but this will be my first trip to CR.

Anyone going to be around at that time, drop me a line

Over and out

Some guys are cut for mongering while others aren't. They could be intiimidated by that whole scene or intimidated by chicas in general.
It's too bad they backed out given the occasion. Its also too bad that you are deciding to go to Jaco for your first trip instead of SJ. You wouldn't have any problem finding some wingmen there.

As Jadcujo inferred you might want to just stay in SJ for your first trip. Head over to the Sportsmens lodge and you will me alot of great wingmen. Just about everyone there is CRT and always more than willing to show a new guy around and they are a blast to hang with. Also, ask Orange about the weather in Jaco.

You need to screw Jaco and book a room at the HDR or Sportsman. Ground zero is the place to be and Jaco "ain't" it! :D

Berk....

And Happy 40th BD
I went to CR solo my first trip in 96
It was a life changing experience.
Stay away from Jaco this trip (believe me there will be more) and stay at SL or HDR.
It took me 4-5 trips B4 I went exploring outside the city.
As for your pu*sy buddies.
Forget them.
Traveling solo is the way to fly.
Every time I traveled with buddies it was a pain.
They always wanted to do something else and it was a hassle trying to keep everybody happy.
Also when you go to CR you don't want to make a fixed itinerary.
Just take every day as it happens and have the mobility to do what you want when you want. This is very important.
Also you will meet lots of new and like minded best friends.
If you want to go to a certain club or MP or wherever and don't want to go it alone you will have no problem finding a wingman or two.

Have a great trip!
Mag

Dude, Phuck Jaco. It's hotter than hell there, with 125% humidity. That's during the day though. It goes down to 100% at night you it's a little better.

Plus, you have 1 option in Jaco. You have 101 in SJ. We'll maybe like 95 since they closed down a few places recently.

YOU'VE GOTTEN SOME GOOD ADVICE. 3 NIGHTS FOR YOUR 1ST TRIP ISN'T ENUF TIME FOR ROUND TRIP TO JACO. SINCE IT IS YOUR 40TH, TREAT YOURSELF TO HDR - FUTURE TRIPS, I'D RECOMMEND THE PRESIDENTE OR MORAZAN IN THE GULCH - SPORTSMAN OR AMISTAD IN AMON. TAKE THE WALKING TOUR IF IT'S OFFERED.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the warm welcome and all the good advice. I know from cruising the board that some people have very strong feelings on Jaco. However, I can't escape the fact that I am a beach guy. However, saying that I think I will see how committed I am to the room I booked in Jaco and see if I can't change my plans. Sounds like HDR is quite the experience.

Thanks again.

Besides... the beaches in Jaco are dirty, smelly, polluted, and pretty much empty most of the time. It's not Rio. Hell, it's not even Coney Island.

If I had a grain of sand for every friend who backed out of these trips Id have Jaco beach in my pocket with nothing to do but look at clouds ,black sand and garbage while im waiting for the chicas to stroll over to the beetlebar so I can pick from them and bang ONE in the $15 hotel next door then wonder what the hell im gonna do for the next 12 hours !

Thats funny about your buddies cuz I get a million excuse's the media and movies really scare these people bad .Its alwasy 90% of the people untill its time to book the tickets .Mongering is a lone wolfs game and they all meet in a pack at the Delrey or Sportsman . JG have fun :o

Brian,

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have found plenty of company (men and women) in the monger destinations of the world.

Have a good time. And take pictures to show your buddies what they missed. I love doing that.
