First time Poster combined with six months of lurking in the shadows awaiting my Fantastic Virgin Voyage.
Landing in San Jose on 03/27/08 and staying thru 04/01/08 with 7 childhood buddies-all of us being in out late 20s early 30s (all first timers)!

I figure with the following information that I have gathered,i should be able to steer my pack in the right direction.
The only problem I see we might have is that some of these locations seem hard to find even with the location info.

• Get rhythm Map
• Don Gordos Map of San Jose
• CTR VIP Card
• 2 car rentals

Are there any veterans that would be willing to give me and my wolf pack the grand tour of the low rent establishments?
I and my team would be willing to pick up a session on us for your compensation  .
I also would like to get a chance to meet some of you guys that I have been reading about for the past six months.

That's quite a crew, how's your spanish? There'll be a few of us around those dates. I was hoping maybe BB57 will have a tour going, if not I might be up for it depending on my hectic schedule of entertaining regulars and women I haven't met yet.

Hey Paco!
Actually about 4 of us are fluent Spanish and the others are gringo style.
We were thinking of spending 1to2 nights @ San Jose the rest is kind of in the air.

So I assume it’s a bad idea to show up without reservation?
I thought was going 1 week after spring break!

I heard that most of the time when you make reservations at these places they rarely honor it when you get ther

Spring break varies from late Feb to early Apr. depending on the school. No offense Bulkrockwell but you guys should get your crap together and have a plan especially regarding your rooms or you might all be spread out across SJO sleeping in un-chica friendly hostels. You younger guys would probably enjoy Jaco and the Beetle Bar so a night or 2 there would be cool, if you can drag yourselves away from the gulch.

I would also suggest no rental cars. Taxis and vans are readily available, and much less hassle (and more fun)!

Took your advice and I selfishly  secured myself a 1 standard room @ the DR for 105.00 that night.
Unfortunately the consensus of the group was to worry about the accommodation when we land.
Me being the only one that actually researches our trips knows that I would rather be P**king already by 2pm.

Let them sleep in the cars by the park with all the Trannies … :D (evil laugh)

Ah yes the good old carefree days of "flying by the seat of your pants", I remember them well BUT... You are on a mission with limited time during the high season, why waste it foolishly running around trying to find hotel rooms, figuring out all those one way streets then trying to find a safe place to park? To each his own, I'd rather be laughing it up with CRT amigos and mi novias every possible minute.

That's a good start, but a little planning on their part too will pay huge dividends...
1) Show your guys this site and ask them to read over the newbie section and... Better yet, get them to join so they can benefit form the available discounts...
2) Forget the rental cars... Taxis are cheap and they know where they're going (sometimes)... You can always get a driver to the beach also...
3) Absolutely, have them book their rooms before they arrive, otherwise it will be a major cluster Phuck...
4) If you've got questions, first do a search for the info and if that doesn't help, post the question and someone will give you advice...

8) 8) 8)

I received a generic confirmation email that reads

• thank you for your interest in Casa Vino!!!

Costa Rica's most private and exclusive guest residence is once again accepting reservations.

You inquiry is very important to us. We have received your email and we will respond at our soonest opportunity. Once again, thank you for your interest in Casa Vino!!!

Bulkrockwell,
I know Kevin personally, and I will vouch for him. Although I don't know if anyone will vouch for me!

Kevin travels quite a bit, so he might be tied up currently, but I'm sure he'll get back to you as soon as possible. He's a stand up guy, and he'll take care of you. If he doesn't, you let me know! I haven't seen him on the board lately, which leads me to believe that he's extremely busy.

No worries. I'm sure he'll get back to you, and you're gonna love Casa Vino!

MG

Make sure the phones work before booking. Theres always something wrong with this place. I've been invited to stay here several times with a friend, but after my first stay there, I think I'll go across the street to the Dunn Inn. By the way, if you stay downstairs bring a lead blanket, you'll need it for a room darkening shade. That room lights up very early in the morning. Good Luck with your contact. By the looks of the bookings online this place will go under by the end of the year.
