Okay okay don't yell. :D Are you doing any fishing while in the Jaco area, if not line up your daytime entertainment the night before. Jaco is pretty dead during the days.

Sorry about all the yelling!!
Since I`m locked into [pre-paid] jaco for my hole trip, is there anywhere around jaco that would have some day time action?
Am I wrong to assume that it would be costly to go from jaco to sj for a day and back? Any suggestions?

socal....

Seriously dude, daytime action around Jaco is minimal unless you arrange something the night before. Jaco to SJO by taxi around $80.00 each way, the bus is cheaper but takes longer. By taxi 1 hour 45 minutes, by bus I have no idea. So to answer your question it is not cost effective to make that run for a day. You would be looking at $160.00 by taxi for the round trip.
Go to the beatle bar, hook up and make daytime arrangments. Thats about it. The canopy tours are cool and there is plenty of charter fishing out of Los Suenos about 15 minutes away. Golf at the Marriott which is at Los Suenos as well.
Buena suerte amigo

3 weeks in Jaco and only 2 days in SJO? I think you have it reversed! Unless your in your 20's you might want to change up your itinerary, Jaco's ok but I'd be bored after a week, (if not in 4-5 days.) have fun!

I'd say thanks Sparky if I actually thought that was a compliment. Too bad you weren't intellegent enough to offer the same advice. :P

Socal where are you staying or how did you book your trip where you had to pre-pay for the whole thing? Some package deal with a travel agent or site? Just curious...

Pacoloco,
Yea, I booked my stay with Clairtias beach hotel and wanted to pay in advance so I could have it paid off before I left and wanted to make sure I had somewhere to stay. If there is a way to cancell half of my stay there I would, but I`m sure they have already spent the money.

So, yea, I charged it online with them. If I would of known about the lack of action there, I would of done it different.

Well if you want more time in SJO I'd just tell them, or make something up like you've decided to look for property near SJO or have dental work done and need to be there for a week or two, just a thought...

Socal,
You can take Interbus which is only $19 each way to/from Jaco. Door-to-door, they will pick you up at your Jaco hotel and drop you off at your SJ hotel, and vice versa. It's not a crammed public bus. It's a private shuttle service that uses smaller 8-10 passenger vans. Very comfortable, A/C, rest stop, driver will stop if you need to, about 2-2.5 hours.

www.interbusonline.com You have to book it about 4 days ahead.

If you want to take a taxi, you may be able to make a deal with a cabbie to take you to SJ, maybe be your personal driver for the day, then take you back in the evening, for a lot less than double the one-way fare. But I wouldn't recommend this, I would never want to be on the roads at night (especially winding roads in the mountains).
