I have been "lurking" on the CRT website (trying to learn as much as possible about CR and the Gulch) since receiving my VIP membership in late August but this is my first attempt to post a message.

The knowledge/insight gained from this website is invaluable and I would highly recommend this website for anyone planning a trip to CR.

Making my 1st trip to CR in October (25-30), and I am scheduled to arrive at the SanJose Airport around 8:30 p.m. (barring any flight delays) and will be staying at the SL for sll 5 nights of my visit.

I do not have a wingman for this trip (I have not shared my desire to monger with any of my buddies) and would be very interested in meeting up with other CRT members who might be in the area to enjoy a few drinks and to "learn the ropes" of the Gulch (1st round of drinks is on me).

My Spanish is very limited however at this point, there is probably not much I can do to improve it over the next three weeks before I depart for CR.

I am somewhat concerned about my reservations at the SL because I called their toll free number and was told that they had a "junior suite" available for Thusday (Oct. 25) but, they would need me to change rooms for Friday and Saturday nights (to a smaller room? WTF) then I could move back to the "junior suite" for Sunday and Monday nights.

Tried to follow-up on this reservation using the SL online reservation system by have not received any respsone to my online request? I hope that I don't end up having to spend the night in one of the the city parks with all the freaking trannies!

Anyhow, I am really looking forward to this trip and, as luck would have it, I will be in SanJose during the Halloween celebrations. I think that I will probably go in costume as Hugh Hefner and wear pajamas, slippers and a bath robe. LOL

So, if you see a middle age (mid-40's) gringo in your travels around the Gulch wearing pajamas and a bathrobe come on up and introduce yourself.

Pure Vida!

Read my top tips and list of what to bring in the Newbies section.
Especially the list of what to bring.

Note it is still rainly season so bring that folding umbrella. The tour guidebooks omit that part.
