Post subject: | Help for Sept.6 arrival |
OK Guys, My first post. A brand new-bie. I just found out about this place a couple of days ago and wasted no time joining CRT and reading all these posts. Can a eutopia like this actually exist? I believed in Santa Claus for years and when I found out the truth I was devastated. So you can see my skepticism ![]() Hopefully someones left from the week before to have beers with and show-tell me the ropes. I am a CR virgin and know nada espanol, so I am sure I would fare better with some veteran help. I arrive in SJO around 12:00--1:00 on the 6th depending on which flight I get if anyone wants to share a cab. Also would like to deep-sea fish one day. Any replies on this much appreciated, cause I don't know how that works(transportation, # of people needed for boat, etc.) Orange---Just about everything I printed out for the trip was from you. What a wealth of info. How do you keep track? Has Ace's list of things to bring for a first-timer changed any? Also I saw a link somewhere for a moneybelt but can't find it again. Help me! And what is the "necklace W/bag for key and cash" Where do you get that? Flights from here (Tampa, FL) look about the same from Spirit to AA, around $220 roundtrip. Is that normal and is one of them better than the other? Also I saw somewhere there is a Tampa CRT chapter. Someone pm me on this. Looking for replies Seabee |

CB, Welcome. CRT Anniversary weekend (aka Labor Day weekend) books up 6+ months in advance, as does Superbowl weekend, another crazy CRT weekend in SJ. Big parties. The search engine towards the top of the page is pretty good. It's quicker than waiting for replies to a post. Flights have gotten really cheap the last few months. They used to be in the $400-500 range. You may want to reconsider Spirit and go with American. Spirit has gotten many bad reviews (some good too). Here are a few threads about Spirit: https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18518 https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18133 https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18151 https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=17363 There will be a few guys around after Labor Day, look at the Roll Call section. You can post your dates, and you'll find a wingman. Spanish isn't needed, but it helps. Enjoy. |

Seabee, Welcome to the board, and just relax. ![]() You're going to be in SJO in about 3 weeks, so for now, don't worry about learning Español, don't worry about a money belt, don't worry about deep sea fishing, don't worry about transportation, don't worry about nothing. The best advice - would be to read as much of this forum as possible before your trip. It will help to prepare you for all the gifts that Santa Claus is going to bring you! Basically, what I'm saying - is not to try and "over-plan" your 1st trip. It simply will not work, and many others will tell you the same thing. As soon as your feet touch the ground in SJO, all your plans will go out the phucking window!!! ![]() For now, just research the different threads about personal safety, different venues that you might want to visit, and what NOT to do! Everything else will fall into place, don't worry. I'm sure you've already seen it, but Orange wrote a great thread in the Newbie section, with a lot of good info for guys just like you! You asked "Can a Utopia like this really exist" ???? You're gonna find out for yourself! Enjoy yourself, and make sure to post a trip report upon your return. Be safe, have a great time, and again...welcome to the board! Mucho Gusto ![]() |

OK I booked with AA. Spirit did sound problematic. Supposed to arrive @ 1:00 Sept. 6 So now I wait. I continue to read (there is so phucking much) my mind is just jumbled and I have printed out maps, references, etc. and they're all over the place. Now I'm worried. I like cold beer, rice and beans, and small latina women. Is this place really for me ![]() Seabee |

I have never followed Ace's what to bring list. You need one main thing. It very simple. CASH! You don't have cash and you'll be chockin' that chicken yourself... night and day. Everything IS about cash. Cash is King. The chicas are all about cash. You want to phuck one... you gotta have cash (read my signature line). Nothing is free in SJO. One more thing. You'll see written on this board frequently the term "novia". Novia in Spanish means girlfriend. The writers using this term are poor, misguided souls. ![]() ![]() Other than that...... welcome and have fun! ![]() Berk..... |

Pacifica55 wrote: Great advice from MG. Trips can be planned/executed on the fly since we will be beyond the holiday weekend. Just get your program together as Orange outlined, get checked in to your hotel and you will be good to go. ZB is a few blocks west of your hotel. After you get settled get a hold of me and I will accompany you to your first CR session, just to get the rust off. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Seabee, You're a lucky guy in that these are some of the more experienced and fun group of guys in CRT... At least they say they are... Actually, I think they want to be present when you walk into the Hotel Del Rey for the first time... They will probably draw straws to see who picks your jaw off the floor... Yes, it will be a mind blowing experience.... And that ain't all that will get blowed... Welcome to the club... |
