Been there 2x. It is expensive and overpriced compared to San Jose. If your there to get laid, your wasting your time and money.

On the otro mano, some nice ticas go to the beach on the weekend. For a good view, I recommend getting a room at Dolly's Hostel. It has a nice view from the porch. I do not recommend staying there as the rooms are small, the ceiling fan is attached by a rope, but for $10-20 QD. You have a nice spot on the beach.

If you go to Jaco, Beetle bar is a must. Closest thing I have ever seen to the DR.

I recommend Playa Flamingo, it is much nicer than both of those options. Tamarindo is a train wreck. Best to import your chica there as well.

I agree with Kccostarica. But then again... I'm a little "partial" to Flamingo Beach!

Yes, Mucho, you were the one that first turned me onto Playa Flamingo and I have to say that you were 100% accurate with your assessment of Tamarindo. It is definitely going through an ugly ducky phase. It is no longer a quaint beach town it was a few years ago, there is a ton of construction going on that is not appealing at all. Maybe in a couple of years when they have it all built out and they get out of this transition phase, I am sure it will be better than it is now. Right now it is just a mess. I fail to see why anyone would think it is appealing at all. I have a hard time understanding anyone that thinks it is "much nicer" than Jaco. Maybe at one time, but certainly not in its present state. Like I said, it is a train wreck.

Playa Flamingo has some development going on, but at least you don’t feel like you are in a full fledge construction zone. I think it turned out quite nice. The town has an upscale, Mediterranean feel to it. It is certainly one of the nicer resort areas in Costa Rica.

I certainly agree. But it's off the beaten path, so it's not as popular as many of the other "beach" towns. But I'm fine with that. I'm looking forward to going there next week! But I'll be kinda bummed out, knowing that many of my CRT friends will be in SJO getting lots of p*ssy, while I'm be schlepping with the family in Flamingo!
MG :?

Don't worry MG, I've already rented a bus and will be bringing a load of drunken CRTs and DelRey hookers to party at la playa with you. And don't you dare be a snob and act like you don't know us.
