Hi guys

making the courageous decision :) of making my first trip to Costa Rica. Have bene reading this board for a while now but was always discouraged from making a trip due to being a newbie, coming alone etc. But I guess what the heck...we live once. I have booked my flight arriving July 4th from JFK and departing 8th. Based on what I am reading here I am debating between staying at Del Rey and Mozaran. Have sent an email to the del rey guys inquiring about rates and will do the same with mozaran if I figure out their website/email.

If anybody is travelling alone, unsure about what to expect and even nervous send me a PM and maybe we could hang out. Would be at ease with some company in an unknown land on the 4th of July.

Thanks for everybody taking the time to post on this message board.

Maniquen, I am posting a reply to your post sitting in La Amistad on this beautiful Sunday morning in Costa Rica. This is only my second trip, my first trip was last April. I stayed at the Del Rey then and had a great time. Decided to try Amistad this time due to good reviews on this site and am very glad that Idid. The rooms are great, the general ambiance of the hotel is outstanding. Situated in a very quiet neighborhood and a stones throw away from Sportsmans Lodge. (literally) I have a deluxe room with air conditioning and a ceiling fan, private bathroom, memory foam mattress on the bed (very comfortable), small refrigerator in the room to store beer, water, etc. and a electronic safe for your valuables. The Del Rey is just a few blocks away. With crt discount I am paying $55 per night. Included in your room price is a free breakfast buffet from 7am to 10 am. Hot breakfast with juice, milk, cereals etc. Very good.

As far as being alone, forget about it. Where ever you go, especially the Sportsmans Lodge you will find friendly faces and a warm handshake welcoming you to chica heaven. So come on down, the beer is cold, the chicas are hot and there is nothing but good times. I will be here till July 9, look me up and I will buy you a cold one. Have a safe trip.

Well, it's late Sunday afternoon and I am almost packed and ready to leave in the morning. I guess it will be a "Sleepless" night in Seattle with the anticipation of leaving in the morning for Trip # ???.

Well, whatever number it is, I am sure it's not enough.

Look foward to seeing everybody again this week.

And, Hola B set your alarm clock right now!!!

Sorry guys, but I have to back out. I have some funcky thing going on with my leg and the doc says not just "No" to travel but "Hell No".

I will be canceling my reservations for the Penthouse Suite at the SL which I soooooooo looked forward to experiencing. I am to say the least Pissed. I was ready and basically had my stuff laid out ready to be packed.

I'll be thinking of all of you as well as my friends who are also going down there next week. Enjoy.
