I love Sosua and I guarantee you will not think about the HDR when you are there at Classicos at night. During the day, it is great to hang at Herman's or my friend Ernesto's next to Herman's on the beach.
During holidays, you will have the same problem that CR has with the influx of amatuer mongers. In fact, you might be too late for NG. ISG has a list of places to stay.

I will be in sosua staying at the new garden hotel from Saturday November 22nd until Thursday November 27th. I actually fly into Santo domingo on the 21st and plan to stay there for one night and then onto Sosua. Its my maiden voyage. I still love Cr but this seems the perfect time to try something different. I reserved my room about two months ago.

I am either going to Jackson Hole for Tday or to hang with you in your maiden voyage to the DR.

Sosua is the place. I have stayed at a hotel called the Europa, I think. Owned by a super simpatico German guy, his wife, and two yapper dogs. It is right on the main drag between Clasicos and Passions with lots in between.

I checked out New Gardens a few months ago and they were under construction so I took a pass. But, then again YMMV.

I will either fly into STI or POP and work the island from feet dry were ever.

I'll be in Sosua Dec. 3 thru 10. Staying at New Garden.
