Ah - but aren't we forgetting - in Rio we'll be enjoying the full ten-course gourmet meal, while in CR you're stuck with the cheap buffet....

Glad to hear you've seen the light Ciao - I'll warm up a few for you...
GR,
We get it. You're burned out on Costa Rica. But consider that you have visited here more times than you can count over the last few years, banged more chicas than Wilt did cheerleaders and had more fun than is legal in 50 states. Why now must you call CR a "cheap buffet," when you haven't even gone to this other venue which you now regard with evangelical fervor? To many of us, CR is still paradise. I'm happy for you that you have the opportunity to visit Rio, but you had your 40 trips to figure out this place wasn't for you. Now let us have ours.
And keep a few warm for me, as I will hit 40 trips myself in no time.
Ciaociao
Ciao, with all due respect, being burnt out on CR isn't the issue at all. I just see it a lot more clearly now, and lately I don't like what I'm seeing. And trust me, although I'm the most vocal about it, I'm not the only one that feels this way. It's not only guys I've talked to privately, but look at Tman's recent trip report for example, or all the guys who've been to Medellin that now see no reason to bother coming back to CR - let alone to Rio, Thailand or the Philippines.
Not to say that I wouldn't rather spend a week in CR than Los Angeles any time. But it peaked for me last year with the Labor Day trip/CRT Party, and it's been a slow downhill slide ever since. If the bang-for-the-buck was still at the previous level, I wouldn't even feel the urge to try other places - in fact, the fact that it WAS that good is what kept me coming back for 20 trips. But right now, there is no compulsion whatsoever to do a 21st. Not when there's Rio, Pattaya, Medellin, Peru, Cartagena, Cali, the Phillipines, Cuba, the DR, etc., to be explored.
Anyways, don't mean to rain on your parade, and if CR still floats your boat - by all means, enjoy. After all, we all have a lot to be thankful for.
