Changed my Panama trip last minute as the weather looked pretty bad in PC. I know it will be raining in San Jose too but can always get some onsite company if necessary.

Hotel availability was bad, Sportsmen's was almost completely booked. I did score a King room at the Castillo. Checked the rates at the Taormina and it would have been about the same as a King room at the Castillo. Add to that, expensive drinks and a guest fee, I'll go with the Castillo and the all inclusive.

I was pleasantly surprised that the Castillo updated their website. Before you had to submit a reservation request and wait for Darren to get back to you with a confirmation. You couldn't see room availability.

Now it is great, real-time availability and immediate confirmation.

The website for La Amistad was also updated with the new lower prices (as low as $39/night with $5 breakfast).

I did go to the Amistad. Booked a King Jacuzzi room with a big window. Saved over $300 for the stay. Won't get all of that all inclusive food and drink but my waistline will thank me.

Any chance you remember the room number and how loud the passing trains were for you?

The rains are also supposed taper off that week (80% down to 60% on Wunderground).

I won't know the room number until I check in. The trains have never bothered me in the past. I can sleep through anything and I normally get up early anyway.

Sure thing, I stayed in room 107 my first night to San Jose since I arrived early am since it was 40 bucks and the train which passed at least 3 times wasn't a warm welcome lol

Decided to stay an extra night and partake in the Independence Day party on the 13th. Will spend that one night at the SL.
