Greetings gentleman!

I am traveling to CR tomorrow 12/24 and will be staying until the morning of the 31st.

I have mongered a wide variety of places worldwide Thailand, TJ, Germany, Austria, Sri Lanka, Malaysia.

Wouldn't mind finding a wing man.

Pros:

I am a big dude. 6'5" 300, so there are very few places I am afraid to go. I am also chill and can converse well with the ladies if it is in English.

Cons:

My Spanish is horrible.

Anyway I will be at the SL for the majority of my trip unless I decide to go do the tourist thing in another region for a night. So if you wanna share info hit me up on here, or if you see a big ass gringo sitting around the bar area of SL that's probably me.

There will be three interesting non-monger events going on during your stay.

Zapote Fair, December 24 - January 6, similar to a county fair, but Tico style. Bullfighting three times daily. Located well outside central San José. Kind of a full day affair that should be avoided by newbies.

Horse Parade, December 26. Second Avenue to Paseo Colon. 3,000 horse riders expected. Lots of police. Starts around noon.

New Year’s Carnival Parade, December 27. Also Second Avenue to Paseo Colon. Starts at 2:00pm. Masquerades, Vintage Cars, dancers and musicians.

None of these should impact you on the barstool at the SL. All will be covered on local TV. Fun to watch, but unless you are with an experienced or adventurous Spanish speaking wing, stick to watching it on TV your first trip. Same for the upcoming Palmarés Festival January 9 - 21.

All of these things sound awesome and like something I would want to do, I am assuming as a non Spanish speaking gringo I shouldn't go alone though.

interesting you mention Sri lanka cause when i went there it was a tough to get incall to the hotel
even though i was traveling w locals
did not partake but my friend did and he didn't even get to see her first
the culture there has very little in the way of overt sexual content or even advertising w women
never saw a place that looked remotely like a spot anywhere in Colombo
if you did ok in TJ you should be fine in CR for Spanish
different kind of Spanish anyway
staying at the SL will be perfect since the girls speaking passable English seem to congregate there as well
also you should make quick friends to wander about with and show you the mp's etc.

No problem wandering down to Second Avenue if you're staying at any of the downtown places. Great to watch the parades...horses... whichever one is on at that time. Last one I watched was all the decorated ox-carts and some big ass steers ...some over 6 and a half feet tall...pulling them.
