I’ll be going to C.R. for the first time in feb 2-feb14 with wingman.

Staying at del Rey and la Amistad first night in SJO then off to La Fortuna
For 4 days, doing non-mongering things like zip lining, hot springs, hanging bridges. Any mongering areas in La Fortuna/arenal?

Then off to Jaco (rest of trip is mongering) thurs-Sunday, staying at Poseidon. Any tips and must dos?
Best places for Chicas?

Then last 3 nights back in SJO and we are both staying at sportsmen.

Some advice for s first timer in these cities.

Thanks in advance. We are mid30s and good fitness

In La Fortuna try
Get a day pass, rent a locker to store your stuff for 6.00 big enough for 2 easy. Towel deposit is about 10.00 each, and you can swap your towels as often as you want. Get your money back when you return towels and leave
https://www.baldihotsprings.cr/

http://www.donolivochocolatetour.com/ This was enjoyable and felt worth the 25.00

http://cavernasdelvenadocr.com/index.html This I highly recommend only 25.00 each and you can spend the day there. Take change of clothes and swim trunks to use the pool after your done. They do have a resturant on site but we did not try it.

In La Fortuna eat at http://www.restaurantelaparada.com/ for local food at reasonable prices. Plenty of places to eat but a lot of them are pricey. We kept going back to this one.

As for mongering in La Fortuna there were plenty of girls if you look but be somewhat discreet, also a fair amount of tourist females that might be an option if you want them. Places do close up somewhat early but we found late night drinking spots every night.

Oh, if you hit Baldi up by the pool where the water slides are if you walk down to the next pool there will be an artifical cave that has a great steam room in it. As you exit the steam room there is a shower head that you can get a nice dose of cold water from but you need to look for it. I missed it the first time in but kept going in and out to use the cold water....... Be careful though as some of the water is quite hot.

The only real place for chicas in Jaco is the Cocal.

1. The only thing good in La Fortuna is Baldi Hot springs.
2. The state run bus takes 5-6 hours and no bathroom stops
3. If you have to take the state bus buy the ticket a day in advance
(you will be assured a morning ride and no 5 hour wait for the next bus)
4. Everything is expensive in La Fortuna. I.E. Sunscreen is 20 Bucks US.
5. If you go to the La Fortuna waterfall make sure you are in shape
(500 Steep steps straight down a beautiful path)
6. If you go to La Fortuna waterfall make sure you take a cab to the falls.
7. If you go to La Fortuna waterfall make sure your Cabbie comes back in
a few hours to take you back to your hotel, Trust me on this one!!!

Just a tip, DO NOT GO on Any 4-8 hour hikes or extreme hikes in La Fortuna, Whether you like it or not you are
in a 3rd world country and if anything goes wrong you will be in a world of hurt. IE. the Arenal Volcano extreme hike
will destroy a new pair of shoes in 3 hours, and that is just on the way up, most of the trails in Costa Rica are not maintained except by foot traffic. Also La Fortuna only has 35-45 days of sunshine, and although it is beautiful it rains a lot! Be sure to look and see if there is an American flag on any brochure of any tour you think about going on, if not they may not be US tourist friendly!!! Trust me on this one........
