Gentlemen (I use that term loosely),

I am confirmed for a quick visit to Jaco during the Thanksgiving (US) Holiday. I will be flying in San Jose on Wednesday, Nov 22 and departing late on Sunday, Nov 26, flying on Southwest. I have an Ocean Front room reserved at the Cocal for this trip.

This will be my second visit to CR. My previous trip was in January 2016. I did a few days in San Jose (Sportsman and HDR), then explored the country (hiking, rafting, etc). This trip is a pure hobby visit and some quick r-n-r.

I still need to book my transfer to/from the airport to Jaco. I've contacted Interbus. If anyone else has a reputable driver to recommend, let me know. I briefly thought about renting a car, but board research steered me clear of that idea.

Lastly, I'm solo, so if there are any other solo travelers looking for a wingman during this period, let me know. Besides my rookie CR experience in 2016, I also spent some time in SXM in January 2017 hobbying there. I'm in my early 40s, very fit, good looking, with a very very basic understanding of Spanish. Doubt you guys care about that last sentence. :P

Looking forward to my trip!

how are you getting from the airport to Jaco and if you don't mind me asking what is the cost for that length of stay ocean front @ cocal (anything included). I'm debating on hit CR the around that time myself but not sure if I want to do San Jose or Jaco. I would like to be by the beach and have a pool so Jaco sounds pretty good but getting back and forth from the airport is something I'm thinking about.

I'm living near Jaco and hang out at the Cocal a couple times a month. I'm always looking for a wingman or drinking buddy to hang out with. I'm 40 and work weekdays from 7 to 4. But I'm always free in the evenings and weekends.

I'd love to show you the insider tips on Jaco.

Send me a PM if you want to meet up.

I'm paying an average $145/night for the Ocean View room. From my research, I could've opted either for a less expensive room at the Cocal or elsewhere in Jaco. I seriously considered the Copa, which is a nudist/swinger's place. However, having extensive experience in the swing lifestyle at home, single males sometimes get a bad wrap at these places. Maybe I could get lucky with a swinger couple for a threesome at the Copa (I'm cool with a MFM threesome, no M-M play), but, I'm sort of lazy while on vacation (even a short one), so the Cocal seemed ideal. There are cheaper rooms at the Cocal, but based on my read, they were smaller. I didn't mind spending the extra $20-$30/night to have the Ocean view.

As for transfer, I'm leaning towards Interbus, $45 each way. It does require me to cab from the airport to the Denny's nearby (CR law prevents them from picking up at the airport). My concern is the pick up is 3PM and I land at 1:30PM. Assuming no delays, and should be able to get to the pickup spot in 1.5hrs. Fallback is Uber; estimate is 45000 colones (~$78 US). I may just play it safe and Uber to Jaco; Interbus back on Sunday.

yeah I would be more of Cocal, not really into the swinging action and it would be akward being one of the only single males at a swingers resort with all couples. When I was there a few years back Uber was not an option I don't think but that's probably how I would go as well that way it's monitored on the APP etc. Can Uber pick up at the airport or do you still have to cab over to Denny's.

I'll definitely drop you a PM either right before I leave or once I arrive.

Can you Uber from the airport? If so, is there a designated pick up spot?

Yes the pick up zone for uber is usually on the departures level restaurant/cafe past all the Taxi Hawkers ... ive never had any trouble getting an uber within a couple minutes.. usual fare was around 6-7 mil to Amistad
