I made my first trip to SJO at the end of last October and stayed at the SL, HDR and the Amistad. I unknowingly timed it just right for the Halloween parties. I spent most of the evening at the SL, and then went to HDR around midnight. I had no idea Halloween was such a big deal in Gringo Gulch...what a blast!

I did a lot of research prior to my trip, but was overwhelmed with information and made several rookie mistakes...nothing serious, but a good learning experience which should make my next trip even better and probably cheaper too. I think the worst mistake I made was giving out my email address, and yep, received those lovely RFM messages.

I will be arriving on Jan. 15th for 7 days. I have not completed my Hotel reservations, but will be at the SL for at least a couple of nights, and then possibly the Amistad or one of the other Hotels in the area.

Is there anyone else planning to be there during that week?
