First timer here... 04/26/08 till May 3rd. Leaving solo from NY. Wondering if anyone else is going during that time.

I don't speak spanish much but am actively practicing and learning. It's 4 months to my inaugural trip and I should have sufficient spanish down packed by then.

If anyone wants to learn spanish in a fun interactive way (besides getting a hot tutor), there is a game called "my spanish coach" for the Nintendo DS. I highly recommend it. It even has a built in dictionary and key phrases. It actually does make learning fun.

Since your trip is several months down the road do yourself a favor and read the newbie section which will reduce the number of mistakes on your first trip.Your going to have a blast if you don't know one word of Spanish but it's great that your taking the iniative to learn a little before you come.

Ok will do. I just purchased my flight for 04/26/08 returning 05/03/08. Thinking of staying at the Morazon... but will do more research before booking a room.

I did join CRT and am waiting for the VIP card to arrive. I can't wait. So excited!!

The Morazon is in a convenient location and the cost of the rooms is reasonable.Again the newbie section has a lot of information on everything related to your first trip including lodging.

I have to agree with HToad on the DS game. Thanks for the idea!

I picked up "My Spanish Coach" for the Nintendo DS at Best Buy yesterday for $30 and borrowed my sister's DS to try it out. It's a fun, interactive way to learn/practice Spanish, and it's much cheaper than the computer aids. It tests your Spanish competency before you start playing, so there's no being thrown in the deep end.

I highly recommend it.

I reserved Luxury Suite #2 for my stay there (04/26-05/03). I received a CRT discount in the confirmation email sent to me by Dennis.

They have high (12/1-04/30) and low (05/01-11/30) seasons.

Luxury Suite 2
Low $59.00 (CRT=50.00)
High $69.00 (CRT=59.00)

Looks pretty awesome and reviews on CRT are great. Check it out. https://www.hotelfreebird.com/

Well, I got Orange and the rest of you to thank for plenty of great info for my newbie trip. I find myself combing through these threads EVERY day. Twice!!! OCD indeed.

I'm still wondering if anyone will be there during my time there who would want to do all the eco stuff (volcano, canopy, atv things).

I will be there during part of that time. I am fling in on the 30th and leaving on the third. My birthday is the second, so I'm looking to do some serious partying that day. I'm actually going to CR on the 20th of this month too. Just for a couple of days and actually just going to Jaco this trip. I like the ATVs there.
