Hi
I'm heading down for the CRT party in 9 days, I will be in Costa Rica for 10 nights starting on Aug 24. with my wingman WarriorPath. Last year we had a problem exchanging some of our $100 bills at the DR and some of the shops would not take a them ether. I got stuck with $300 in US 100 bills I could not use. I like to take about $1000 cash and pull from the ATM when that runs out. Anyone have any info on what the deal is with the bills.
Thanks Roch

You need to bring bills that look almost new.
No tears even the smallest cut or tear will be rejected.
Also they should have no writing or marks of any kind on them.

My best guess, is that they were 100 dollar bills, with the serial number that started with the letters CB. There's been a few threads in the past, about difficulty passing CB hundred dollar bills. A while back, there was a rash of counterfeit 100's, and they all started with the serial # CB. "Word on the street" was that they were being brought in from Colombia.

Next time, just bring 50's and 20's. And make sure they're in good condition. You shouldn't have any problems (unless you run out of them)!

Good advise from MG. Fifties rule. Nothing is more pathetic than a newbie monger who has negotiated her down to $70 but does not have change for $100...Image
That's hilarious!
