Post subject: | ROOM SAFES |
I am a green newbie, and planning a tip in March (can’t wait) I have bin looking for info on CR, and it looks like I hit the mother load. I have bin reading a lot of stuff on the site and doing searches. I have learned a lot and buy March I will be more there ready to hit SJ. I would like to thank everyone for the great reports and tips. There are a couple of things I did not find much info on. Has any one ever had any problems with the room safes (HOW SAFE ARE THEY?) I have earned a free week through Marriott’s rewards program. I could not find too much info on the one by the airport. (Not the courtyard) Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure if I will have a problem bringing in the pro`s there are conflicting reports. I plan to spend a week there and 4 days at the SL or the Presidente I am not the greatest writer so please bear with me Thanks GINO |

Personally, I use them in every hotel I stay in, and I've never had a problem with one. I've never had anything stolen from my room safe. YMMV |

my experience at the Presidente was good....the electronic safes (enter code to open) work very well... I kept my passport, extra money, atm card etc in the safe....never carry around more money than you plan on spending that day was my motto... the Newbie Section is full of good advice |

Dr, The safes at The Hotel Don Carlos are not large enough for a laptop. Although The Hotel Don Carlos is an excellent hotel in all respects, it is not chica friendly. It is just not that kind of place. Zebra |

Thank you guys, I guess Hotel Presidente it is. A hotel can be as good as it gets, if it is not chica friendly it does not qualify ![]() |

The safes at the Pres. will not hold the newer wide screen laptops. I have tried. No problem just get a cable lock and secure to a chair, table or T.V. stand. Left mine unlocked almost all of last trip. Never have had any problems at the Pres. |

Do we have to pay for the safes at the SL? |

safes come with the price of the room....standard feature the Presidente is also a nice place, secure...the only drawback is only one guest at a time.....if you want a threesome/foursome...you have to have a wingman(s) check one/two extra ones in personally, I was able to help one fellow CRT member last trip check in an extra guest.... either the SL or the Presidente are good choices... I like the comraderie/atmosphere at the SL better, but that's my personal choice....you may prefer the more traditional atmosphere of the Presidente....I give both a thumbs up |
