i see alot of discussion about pricing, sometimes in calones and other times in dollars, when one states no cien, are we talking about $100US or 100,000 c?
Are both currencies traded back and forth, or is one to exchange dollars and pay with local currency.
certainly not my only question, but one that has me thinking.
Ad,
"CIEN" refers to $100USD--NO!!! (100,000col would be more than $200--HELL NO!!!). Both currencies can be used interchangeably to pay chicas and in most local establishments, especially ones that cater mostly to gringos. Some Tico places may not accept dollars. I've heard suggestions to use colones to pay for everything, because the exchange rate you will get in most places sucks.
(FYI--most chicas can do currency conversions faster than a seasoned currency trader on wall street.
