I have read several posts in the Trip reports etc that at the DR or ZB the first thing you do is hang out at the bar.What if you are someone who does not drink alcohol? Would the girls or others look at you as a wierdo if you are total no alcohol guy?

And also do any of you see any asians in these countries?

How does this work?

As long as your wallet is full the girls will look at you just the same. I like to have a drink and a relax while eyeing the girls. It doesn't matter if its a beer, a scotch or a pepsi. Do whatever you are happy doing as long as its respectful of others.

With regard to ethnicity, dont worry about a thing...

I no off several guys who don't drink alcohol.You won't be weird at all.I often drink outher things as well as beer because I prefer not to get drunk as it goes against our hobby.rbc100

Sangram.......I'm not a drinker per se. I will often go to the New York Bar or Del Rey in the evening and just order up a coke or a lemon lime drink. I've never had anyone, chica or otherwise look at this in a negative light. Nobody has ever commented on it either way.

As for Asian women.......I've always had a thing for them. A young, beautiful Chinese woman speaking Spanish is a real turn-on for me. I personally have never seen any in CR in a working-girl capacity. I have seen some beautiful Chinese women working in the restaurants, etc. Unfortunately, after putting forth determined efforts to connect with one, it's never happened for me. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying.

I do not drink alcohol during daylight hours. I stick with coffee or Coca Light or club soda. No probema. No concerns.
(The reason is that I tend to get sleepy so I must watch myself.)

My buddy, Nononsense hardly drinks alcohol at all and he has a harem.

I don't drink at all. It's no big deal. Drink water, club soda n lime, coke, whatevuh.. Get them drunk if you can. You'll have your wits about you more also. Remember, if you get up to leave for a minute, take your drink.

I too do not touch alcohol-just bottled water, and have never had a problem or comment from anyone as to why I dont drink.
As Ace stated it sure helps to keep your wits about you.

I don't drink at all, and always had a great time down there. As for what the girls think....I got the impression they truly preferred a guy who doesn't drink. They have all been exposed to bad experiences w/ gringos, and more times than not there has been alcohol involved in those experiences....

I don't drink. 20 yrs in A/A and N/A.
It took me along time to sit in a bar again. But am ok with it now. The main difference is I don't start crying when they play Pattsie Cline. I still cry when they play Danny-boy with the pippes in the back ground.
If you are uncomfortable just leave. Take care of yourself. It ain't no differnt down there than up here when it comes to the drink.
I met one 1/2 chinese girl at Oasis. She was fine. But there are not alot there.
I married a pen pal from the philippines about fifteen years ago. They are hot little pettie things. But when all is said and done they make gringo wifes when they get here.

Unlike many of the posters to this thread I do drink but not when I am mongering. On those occasions I drink bottled water. I think it is advantageous in selection, negotiation and performance department to not have been drinking.

No one has ever made a negative comment on my choice of water as opposed to alcohol.
