Post subject:  Leaving 8/9/2005 Need Help!

Leaving for San Jose this coming Tuesday and need some info on the action in town. Where are the best parlors (good facilities, cute girls, reasonable prices)? I've heard flamingos and morocos are both cheap, but would like some other opinions (we are looking for quality women without spending 100 an hour). Please be as specific as possible, include names of owners/managers we should talk to at these clubs. Other than the Del Rey, where is a good spot to pick up working girls? After a few nights we are leaving for Tamarindo and renting a home on the beach. Anyone know how the action is here? Thanks for all the help!

Let me be the first to say this - read previous posts to learn all you can. Feel free to use the search engine... It works great. However, I will try to respond to some of your questions.

Several of the top massage places in San Jose, in no particular order are -

1. New Fantasy
2. Idem
3. Zona Blue
4. Oasis

In my opinion, the Del Rey is fun the first few trips but I am tired of the constant hussle. I would also recommend staying away from the strip joints on your first trip unless you are with someone who has been there before. In general, gringos can be mislead and taken advantage of financialy. Never use a credit card... Just my opinion.

Branch out and be willing to check out the places that senior members have talked about. If you have specific questions that you can not find through the search engine, feel free to drop me a PM.

After spending a few hours reading the numerous trip reports, I think I have a good idea of the spots to hit. It sounds like Zona Blue is a great spot, with a nice cigar bar, definately my type of atmosphere. I cant seem to find any info on the action in Tamarindo, can anyone provide some input? Is there a way to get san jose "action map" without becoming a VIP member? I dont have a problem spending the 40 dollars, from what I read you save an incredible amount with the card, but I leave Tuesday and cannot recieve it in time. Thanks for the help, and putting up with a newbie!

You can get a card via Visa and pick it up at the Zona Blue. It would be a good idea (and, no, I have absolutely no financial interest in this board, just a personal affection).

Good advice earlier about staying away from the strip clubs. Absolutely not necessary on your first trip; heck, you can have the real thing for less.

Most of us go through this cycle: 1st trip: Del Rey greatest place in the world. 3rd trip: Del Rey ok, its a little intense. 5th trip: Phuck the Del Rey. Too many crazy rookies. 8th trip: I always stay at the Prez. 15th trip: I'm thinking about the Sportsmen's Lodge.

Biggest hint: Learn the meaning of "no cien." Gosh do we ever hate to see newbies screwing up the deal for everyone else. Be kind, and respectful. Never an "ugly American tourist." The attitude will reward you. You will love the Blue Marlin at the DR. Offer 40; try for 50; accept at 60; 70 is iffy; 80 you lost, 100- never post again.

No organized action in Tamarindo. Only beach place with organized action is Jaco. Tamarindo is a nice place; consider arranging companionship while in San Jose for take out service. Or... consider never leaving San Jose!

According to the Whoreticulture map (a must for you! see the web site once you are vip) it opens at 10am. Glad to see you joined. Smart newbie.

I hope the Admin will excuse me and delete this if it he thinks it inappropriate, but if any newbies are thinking of becoming a CRT VIP largely to gain access to my map, I'd appreciate it if they would join CRT by clicking on the CRT banner ad at the top right corner of my website. That way they can support both CRT and a small portion goes to me to help support expansion of my site. It won't cost you any more (though it will take $3 out of Admin1's pocket). Incidentally, my site is totally non-profit and if any excess funds are raised in this way they will be donated to a CR charity group.

Mnstudent, I'm sorry you missed out on that but I'm glad you joined. It was a wise move. I'll PM you the password so you can review the map before your trip.

PS - only 1 E in whorticulture.

Post subject:  Good newbie... Smart newbie!

Doug,

Aside from zZona Blue, which is really fun and a fair value, especially with the CRT discount, I'd also recommend Bar Idem.

Bar Idem is incidentally located very close to an excellent panAsian restaurant called Tinjo, pronounced "teen-hoe."

Bar Idem opens at around 3:30 p.m., with many of the ladies showing up for work after 4:30 p.m. Cost is 19,000 colones/hour for a simple upstairs room, or 22,000 for the downstairs room, which is air conditioned and has its own private shower. The bar closes promptly at midnight, so it's important to make your choice and have your fun before then; the bar is closed on Sundays. Unlike other massage places, the routine at Idem is a bit different. Typically, one approaches the girls, who are all seated near the bar along the back wall. Find one who appeals to you, and invite her over for a little chit-chat. Buy her a drink, and if you like her, make the move.

Besides the Blue Marlin, there's a big nightclub just across the parking lot called Key Largo. They feature live bands, three bars, and yes...chicas. Do not ever pay cien ($100.00); the veteranos here tell me that one should be able to strike a great deal, perhaps less than sixty bucks for an hour. Read the many posts on here about mastering the interview; in fact, do a search using the term "interview," and you'll get links to great tips and strategies.

Also near the Blue Marlin/Hotel Del Rey are a number of bars, any of which might have your next love waiting for you. Look around!

Again, there's a lot to learn by Tuesday, but if you do some research, you'll be better prepared for the fun to come, and you'll be less likely to encounter disaster. Wish I could see your face when you enter the Blue Marlin for the first time. :D

P.S. B.Y.O. condoms.
