For you to post your personal practices the way you did in answer to a newbie question is highly misleading.
The truth is misleading?
You have every right to disagree with anything I say, but you are making bad assumptions.
First, The most I agree to pay for TLN is 30,000 colones (about $63), and I often negotiate 20,000. (about $42).
The promise 'Un buen propina por muy buen servicio' is a wonderful carrot and stick negotiating technique.
I stand by it.
I do not tip unless I am satisfied with the effort, and that all terms of my negotiation and interview have been willingly complied with.
So, If I get mind blowing TLN I still only spend about $100.
That typically will include 3 or 4 'events'.
My average cost per event is $25 to $33.
I don't think that equates to overpaying.
The CRT consensus is that CIEN is
WAY TOO MUCH for an hour.
I agree with that, and don't pay too much, in that light.
I see these girls as human beings, doing a job that is difficult, risky, and perhaps demoralizing.
I treat them well, until I see that they are not living up to my expectations.
If that happens I cease to deal with them.
The point that I wanted to make in my first post was that a good reputation goes a long way towards ensuring my complete satisfaction.
If every 'deal' is a WIN/WIN for all parties, how can I go wrong?
It is nice to know that when my TICAs phone rings, while I am interviewing her, it is another TICA telling her that I will be worth treating well.
Experience has proven me right.
When I call one of the frequently given cell phone numbers, day or night, the girl comes to me pronto.
That alone is sonething of a miracle in this land of manana.
I will bet that I still spend less than 70% of all DR gringos, and I get better treatment than 90% of all the gringos.
