To those of us conditioned by experiences in Las Vegas, Costa Rica will indeed be a surprise. Unlike the Vegas outcall service girls (one from whom I actually took my money back once because it was such an obvious rip-off) the girls in Costa Rica are for the most part honest brokers who will give you a square deal for their services.

Like everyone else here has already said, negotiate all the terms of the deal up front - do not go back to your room with a girl without agreeing to the price first. I've made this newbie mistake before and have lived to regret it. And then, of course, honor your commitment, and leave a nice propina or regalo for services that exceed your expectations. We will all benefit in the long run.
