I bought my CRT membership a couple years ago when I planned to go... then Covid hit. So now I've re-upped and ready to try again.
I'm finalizing plans to get there, early-mid December, actual dates TBD, but probably 10 days.

Rough outline:
4 nights Castillo. Thought I'd take the $10 all-inclusive.
4 nights Claritas or Blue Marlin in Jaco. I need some beach.
Last night at SL, just to check it out.

Nicer pool at the Marlin. Better food at Claritas.

Good to know. When I get tired of lazing in the pool I can head to Clarita's for some lunch.

The Castillo is hard to beat with that $10 deal for meals even better if you drink alcohol and you also get 50% off any top shelf drinks, Keep in mind as well you can grab a bottle at Duty free to have Ruth and Marta the staff at the Castillo store it for you at the bar :)

Jaco only been once and no plans to return sorry cant help there

Newbie here.
I am reaching SJO on Monday night and leaving Friday early AM. I am confused if I should stay in SJO and not bother Jaco as I heard in week days Jaco is pretty dry.
Also, why Castillo and not SL or Taormina.

Did you check if Claritas is chica friendly? I stayed there before and I did not get that impression. Good food.

Seems like a good plan. I'm not a huge Jaco fan but some guys love it. It's worth checking out at least one time. The only change I would make is to stay at the Castillo the last night. That way you will qualify for the free ride back to the airport. Also be sure to arrange for them to take you to and from Jaco. You get a discounted rate, I believe it is now $50 each way. This is a significant discount over other private transport.

Have a great trip.

Jaco has not been dry for me on the week days, but I am usually there in or around the dry season. It does get start to get slower as the wet season starts up and the Nicas and Vicas (Is that a term?) go back to their countries.

Just got back from Jaco (April 23rd) and Cocal was out of this world. Easily 50 different girls there on a Friday night, all of them 8's to 10's, not a dog among the pack.

San Jose didn't compare at all but then again I stayed in SJ from Sunday through Wed - so maybe it picks up on the weekend?
