Hi; Before posting this I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't seem to find a topic that aligns with my need. I hope this is OK;

I am part of a group of ten men who went on a trip to Key West last year and had a great time. So great, in fact, that we want to do a trip together annually.
Our two favorite parts were the fishing and the strip clubs. OK, for many it was the strip clubs - the fishing was a pretty effective cover story for the ladies at home.

Anyhow... We'd like to visit different places every year. This year we're leaning towards Costa Rica. The fishing is epic and the clubs are pretty wild. I am in charge of planning - I enjoy it and am good at it.

Planning the fishing part is easy. The after-fishing part is where it gets tricky; It is no secret that clubs in Costa Rica offer more than lap dances. I'm sure some of the guys would like to partake - however they also want discretion - even from each other. (many of us know, work with, or are even related to the wifes and s/o's at home.) Some guys who will want no part of anything beyond a lap dance.

I'd like to give those guys who want to partake of the local talent the opportunity to do so, but am uncertain how to create that opportunity for them to do so with privacy/discretion from one-another. I've never been to CR so there is a large blind spot for me in planning this.

I should add - the guys will also want to do some restaurants, pub crawls, and maybe other adventures than fishing. I'd really like to deliver the whole package (as I did in KW) but I have never been to CR and I have a huge blind spot.

I'm hopeful that there are members here who have some insights or suggestions to offer.

The problem you are going to have is that the coastal areas where you have the best fishing, Jaco, Quepos and farther south really don't have any strip clubs except for one, poorly reviewed place (I've never been) in Jaco. And except for Jaco there really isn't much P4P action especially for a group of ten guys. In Jaco there is the Hotel Cocal (read the forum for many reports) and small clubs in the area where you can find women who want to play. I'm sure that many would be willing to strip in the privacy of your room.

From what I understand and I will verify next week, some of the strip clubs are starting to open in San Jose. Unfortunately, San Jose is about a 2 hour or so drive from Jaco and about 3 hours from Quepos. The commute after fishing would be a killer as traffic can double the travel time. And keep in mind that the bars are closing early (right now I believe 10pm) due to Covid restrictions.

You didn't mention how long you were planning on staying and whether splitting your time between the coast and the capital would be feasible.

If it's a short trip then I would just plan on staying in Jaco. You could arrange cost-effective transportation to and from the SJO airport to Jaco. When I say cost effective, the price per person should be significantly less than what a solo traveler would pay (about $100 each way).

You can arrange your charters out of the Jaco / Herradura area. The condos next door to the Cocal hotel and Casino would probably work for you group. A bit pricey but close to the action and guest friendly. There are many other condo / AirBnB options in Jaco but verify what their policy is for unregistered guests and also what kind of security they have. Also be sure they aren't too far from the Cocal hotel area as transporting ten guys to the action could get tricky.

For a longer trip I would consider splitting my time between Jaco and San Jose. You can only fish so many days and it can get very expensive. If you stay in San Jose the main "party" hotels are the Sportsmens Lodge, Hotel Castillo and the Taormina. For a large group I would probably opt for the Sportsmens as you could book the Penthouse Suite (two people could actually sleep there) to use for your parties after the bar closes (time depending on Covid regs at that time). The other guys would get their own rooms. See their web site for room details and availability. No telling whether strip clubs will be open or not when you are there due to Omicron but you could always hire freelancers from the Sportsmens, Castillo or Taormina bars to dance (and more).

The Castillo also has 3 Penthouse Suites with balconies that could be used for parties.

There are also nice condos and AirBnBs in the area but again be sure to check on their guest policies and be sure they are close to the three hotels mentioned above.

If strip clubs are open, (and with a 10 oclock closing time they will not be), the way they operate will be problematic if you are hoping to have some partake in private rooms and pretending that all that it is is lap dances. It does not work that way. If you go to a room it is for sex. Everyone sees you, everyone in the whole place. If you get a lap dance it is at the table with everyone else able to see/watch.

Same applies at the Sportsman's. Chicas are around the bar area - you talk to them, whatever, then go off to your room for sex. Everyone will know. In good humor it is called "the walk of shame". And same at the Cocal. So no pretending to your baptist brother in law that it was just a dance.

My recommendation:
1. Come down for 3 to 4day scouting trip. Spend a few days in San Jose and one day/night in Jaco.

The trip:
1. Plan the trip in two separate segments, fishing(Coastal) and phucking(San Jose).
2. Fly into SJO, spend one evening in San Jose at either the Sportsmens Lodge, Castillo, or Taormina. My personal preference would be the Sportsmens, but the hookers would be pretty obvious. That might be uncomfortable for those in your party so opposed. At the Taormina, there would still be plenty of hookers, but also a restaurant and casino for the others. It would be much easier for non-mongers to turn a blind eye to the mongers' activities.
3. Depending on your budget, time frame, interests, either shuttle to Jaco or take a jumper plane to Puerto Jimenez. (SANSA airline)
4. Transit back to San Jose after fishing for more party and/or day tours.

Jaco:
Book a private shuttle and there are plenty of tours (ATV, etc). Grungy surf town. Plenty of girls at the Cocal, but in your face hookup. No floor show or other night time entertainment for the non-mongers. Fishing is marginal (about the same as the Florida Keys).

Puerto Jimenez (PJ):
Take a 20 minute flight to Puerto Jimenez. Book your rooms and boat beforehand. I personally have stayed at Cabinas Jimenez. Puerto Jimenez is geared for fishing and is at least 3x better than anything in Florida. I grew up in Central Florida and fished everywhere in the state for 50+ years. After Puerto Jimenez, I gave up fishing in the US. PJ is on the OSA peninsula, book a guided nature hike/tour.

Strip Clubs in CR:
Much sleazier than in the US. Start later at night and therefore might be impacted by changing COVID restrictions. BJ's and FS take place in a private room, but every can see when someone takes a girl back.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

We're probably looking at a three or four day weekend, though some may stay for the week.

I'd love to go scouting, but my SO would definitely not be down with me going solo - an her tagging along would make it all bit impossible for me to scout locations.

PJ has my interest. The fishing is more than just a cover story.

It sounds like there is really no way to provide cover for the guys who want to try mongering. It might just have to be that we pass on it. :(

I don't suppose there is a way we could just do a 'open crawl' and go our own ways? Are there enought places that we won't be crossing paths too often?

For 3 or 4 days and if some of you want to play then you are pretty much stuck with Jaco. While not at the level of Osa, there is pretty good fishing out of there.

If you want to be able to sneak away and play, get a condo or hotel in Jaco that is some distance from the Cocal Hotel. You might even want to stay in Playa Herradura or Los Suenos as that will be closer to most of the fishing departures but far enough from Jaco Central that you would run little risk of encountering your stay-at-home buddies.

Then the adventurous ones could hop in a cab and head to the Cocal (maybe 10 minutes or so). Any woman that you meet there would be able to direct you to a short time room if you want to get to know them better.

For best "discretion" I recommend visiting some of the pensions (massage parlors-MPs) in San Jose but only with those you can trust. You can disguise the visits from the overall group as just going out for a walk, to tour around, gift shopping, lunch, to get some "exercise" etc. San Jose is where most of the MPs are but only go during the day as things change at night safety wise in some of the MP zones.

Pops who is no longer with us specialized in these types of services. I don't know if anyone else offers these types of services but good taxi drivers can get you there if know some basic Spanish. Or if you are good with maps and don't mind walking around a large town during the day could locate your hotel relatively close to downtown and walk to some of the MPs during the day.

If you go MP route there is a lot of information on the board to help out.
