Hello all,

Me and two friends are coming down Oct 28th to Nov 4th. We were planning on staying at the Sportsmans Lodge but Thursday, Friday, and Saturday look to be all booked out. A few questions:

1) Is there anything special about Haloween in Costa Rica we should know? Its sold out at sportsmans so must be a popular weekend.

2) We are thinking stay the first 3 days st Sportsmans to check out that scene then hop over to Jaco for the weekend on the beach? Or would you reverse that? Would you go to a different beach town for the ladies?

3)How do I get a hold of pops, I've read on this board a couple of times it might be wise to hire him as a guide the first time we are down there?

4) Any other suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Answers to questions:

1) Halloween in CR is like NYE in the states (Day of the Dead). Lots of partying and everyone gets dressed up. SL has a big party with costume contest etc. on Nov 1.
People get body and face paint and go all out...so tell crew to plan to bring a costume of some sort.


2) Due to the party at SL, I would suggest the reverse. Book rooms now though for the weekend at Castillo or Armistad if SL is all booked. As for beach town for the ladies, Jaco is the only one I know of within easy commute from San Jose.

4) Just plan to have fun. Part of me says just stay in San Jose since it is Halloween week...lots of parties around town at the various mongering locations.

Is the Sportsman's party on Nov 2?

Normally the party is held the weekend before Halloween if it doesn't fall on a weekend.

I wouldn't just randomly post a date. You can check with them yourself if you wish.
