Post subject: | Question about hotels |
Ill be making my first trip to CR in a few weeks and am currently looking to book hotel. Ill def be doing a night or two at the legendary SL for obvious reasons. I prefer more of a modern hotel with lots of amenities and gym sauna etc. So basically what Id like to know is if it is that much of an issue bringing new lady friends back to some of the newer modern hotels that are not adult only like SL and Amistad etc. From what Ive read it seems some dont mind as long as guests register at front desk...how are the ladies on this situation? does it deter them from going with you? and are you still allowed to go to the bar at SL if you are not a guest to meet girls or does that have to be done at casinos in this case? any info most appreciated |

You can take chicas from the SL bar but you will probably find that you just as well stay there. If you find a chica to "wife up" with for a few days I reccomend the BARCELO to stay at. A nice location out of the gulch but close enough to go back to if you need to |

As a newbie with one post under your belt, you first need to figure out what you're trying to accomplish in your first visit to costa rica. One size doesnt fit all here. Looking for plenty of ladies ?, touring the countryside ?, soaking in the culture ? Needing medical/dental work ? It takes a few trips and time to understand how CR will meet your needs and wants. I would suggest that you book your first trip and stay at one of the downtown hotels, like SL, HDR, Castillo, Taormiana,or even Morazon, to name a few. GET YOUR FEET WET . From there, you will learn fast. If you want to tour the countryside, no problem. Tours will pick you up. If you want to tour the pensions, no problem, plenty of fellows will help. You'll learn the ins and outs of staying at other hotels outside of downtown, pick up some phone numbers of your type of lady-friends, etc. and the list goes on and on. Once you have a little experience, you can choose to do whatever you like. |

The majority of the nicer hotels, ie. those similar to an upper scale Marriott or Hilton brand with pol. gym, sauna, etc. are not very close to area you probably want to hang out in. They are closer to the airport or in the suburbs of Alajuela or Escazu. A couple of nicer hotels also seem to be located around the Sabana Park. You will find that some women will be reluctant to go back to your room due to the travel time. Also as a previous poster indicated, the guest fee can be quite expensive if you are even allowed to bring in a non-registered guest. Since you are planning on staying at the SL for a short period of time, I would suggest that you make it your first stop. Spend a couple of nights there to see how you like it. The SL has a small gym but frankly most of the equipment needs some service / refurbishment. You can use the pool / gym at the Hotel Santo Tomas for a fee. That is a short walk from the SL. Latin Divas (formerly New Fantasy) used to have a steam and sauna area but I don't know f that s still active. Also, I believe that the Hotel Amistad has a couple of rooms with a sauna though you should verify that. |

Most hotels allow that .. some may balk a bit if you didn't tell them when you reserved your room (that it was for 2 not 1)...but you can talk your way through that. But anything more than that guest and the "discouragement" policies kick in. The higher end hotels do not want much or anything to do with the sex business. There is plenty of pressure on them not to support s*x tourism. So while you may be able to get a guest in (and they would need to show their ID at the desk in most if not all places) you will need to pay whatever fee they have set for that. Some people have been able to reserve for 2 people...then pick the 2nd person after they get to town...If the hotel does not demand the second person's name and ID up front then it could work...you may have to have some kind of story, say my girlfriend isn't arriving until later - if they ask. So if you want to "wife up" that may be an option. |
