Post subject:  Late night departure advice

Moved from Hotel topic.
Sorry for the newbie question, but i'm a newb and couldn't find this addressed in the forum. I'm staying in Jaco 3-5 Apr and have a late flight out of SJO at midnight on Friday. Want to spend the afternoon in SJ but don't want to tote my luggage around. Any suggestions on a safe place to store my stuff from like 2-9pm? Considering buying a night at SL, a bunch hours at a short time hotel, camping out at a mp, leaving it at the HDR front desk, staying in Jaco til late. Comments, suggestions, or sage advice?

sounds like you plan to see ladies while in SJO, so just get a hotel. You can get one of the cheap rooms along side of the bar area at Sportsmen. Then when you leave, plenty of rides to the airport outside.

Also with a room, you will have a shower to use before you leave...Sportsmen even some dinner.

I know you're mid-trip but hope you can see this, and if anything maybe it'll help someone else later.

If you ask the front desk (can email or call before trip) if they'll hold luggage for you, I've never run across a hotel that wouldn't, and it's because maybe you'll stay with them on the next trip. It's a service industry and this gives them a chance to build a relationship with a potential customer.

The last time I did it, the ride to SJO from Sportsmens Lodge took around 20-25 minutes at that time of night. Be aware that the food options in the terminal shut down around 9pm so either eat before you go, or take snacks.

In your shoes I'd go straight to SL and drop the bags, go to a pension, have lunch, sightsee, hit the bar at SL and watch some games while drinking, then take dinner there before taking a ride to the airport. In the long run, time is short and memories are worth more than this might cost. Getting a room is up to you, but I did with an 11pm flight and the convenience was worth the cost to me.

Good advice, folks at SL are very nice, so I don't doubt what you say. Looks like HLH is a one stop shop. Pension, bar, bar, restaurant, humidor. Bags are light and our fortune has rapidly diminished ... watch for my trip report.
