Is paying in colones better (more cost effective) than dollars as the the more seasoned travelers pay in colones?

What I find is that it is better to pay hotels that put their prices in dollars with dollars and with girls make sure you both agree on a price in dollars or colones. Most girls usually have no preference and so if you pay in colones you usually get the session at a lower price. At MPs it is best to use colones.
The whole idea is not to let the hotels or any place use some crazy conversion rate of their own.
So rule of thumb - if they quote prices in dollars, pay dollars and if they quote in colones pay with colones.

I always use colones…very rarely is the deal better using US $. And doubly so for me as the US dollars cost me around 3 percent to begin with.

Smart girls are going to want dollars. But all will take colones (smart ones know the exchange rate).

What they will ask? Or what it's possible to negotiate them down to?

Most girls at the Cocal will ask for $150 up per 'hour'. What you can negotiate them down to depends on the girl, the time of night, your skill at negotiation (and you) and how many richy riches from Los Suenos are tossing around big bucks.

At the HDR? Starting at $100 at night. What you can negotiate them down to? Same deal minus the Los Suenos crowd.

TLN? Usually can be achieved at $200 in SJ but in Jaco they want to get back and get more money (YMMV).
