Newbie with some questions and advice needed- just signed up for VIP membership and have also been reading the forums.....travelling solo... Background....50 years old, recently divorced (hardcore divorce), not poor but frugal- will spend on what is worthwhile (hot girls and one or two awesome excursions), never done this before, reasonably decent shape and relatively decent looking....looking for 9's and 10's during my stay (would consider 8's)...am going to split time between San Jose and Jaco.....have been reading and considering SL in San Jose (girl there or from HDR to bring back) and Mango Mar or Cocal in Jaco (no lodging booked yet) Flight is booked to SJO from 2/11/19 until 2/17/19.....both flights are late night....Arrival to SJO at 1:00am and departure from SJO on the 17th at 2:15am....was thinking SL from 2/11-2/13 and going to Jaco morning of 2/13-2/16...travel back to SL for 2/16 and leave for SJO from there.... Questions... 1. Should I rent a car or use public transportation/taxis/Uber? I've read really rough stuff about car rentals 2. Can I check in at SL at 1:30am-2:00am in the morning, how would I get there and time/cost from SJO? 3. I want to see a lot of CR also- should I only consider booking excursions/golf from Jaco? I want to see natural beauty/beach and active stuff like zip line, golf, canopy tour (not much of a fisherman)- some but definitely not as much city stuff 4. Does my itinerary sound ok? Your questions: 1. You don't need a car in San Jose. Uber is fine. And I wouldn't rent a car to go to Jaco. YMMV. 2. Yes. 3. If you want to see a lot of Costa Rica then a week is too short. I would go San Jose (for chicas), Manuel Antonio (beaches, tourist shit) and Lake Arenal /or Monteverde. That's probably 9 days. I'd fly from SJ to Manuel Antonio (Quepos is the airport) and to Lake Arenal (La Fortunata is the airport). Fly Areobell, not SANSA if you can. If you drive you'll spend all the time on the road. After you leave SJ on that route there is (essentially) no mongering. 4. On your current routing you are in Jaco during the week. The expensive mercenary shark chicas that everyone swoons for come out on the weekends. Comment: You are coming in high season. The Christmas holidays slowdown is ending and tourism is picking up. High season is when CR is most expensive. Comment: For your first trip I would not be overly ambitious. |

good advice and agree on keeping it simple if you are intent on Jaco then Manuel antonio/Quepos is a nice choice imo driving is not really a big deal and iirc the new highway to Jaco makes it less than two hours MA is another hour plus beyond that on the same highway basically public transport is pretty easy and the bus is a cheap option, taxis not so much but maybe someone will share? about the 9s and 10s yeah good luck w that frugal and that kind of agenda will not intersect for you especially since the girls can sniff out a newbie the moment you walk through the door coming off a rough divorce your energy will be magnified and the sharks will smell blood be careful and traveling solo is actually probably really dangerous for you not suggesting you are naive but unless you are familiar w this game i suggest meeting up w a guy like Pops if avail its worth the effort |

Thanks for the answers guys....I'm not naive but yeah I definitely don't want to come across as a mark...good idea not to be too ambitious...I am divorced 2 years but need to get laid is really what I meant...not recently....by frugal I meant relatively frugal on Food, airfare, lodging....not excursions and girls- but it sounds like I should lower my standards from the 9's and 10's My thoughts were... Monday.......... Day 1 get to SL... sleep Tuesday.......... Day 2 Arenal/Hot Springs Excursion from SL/Come back smash Tica from DR or SL Wednesday.......... Day 3 Take Bus to Jaco in morning...check in MangoMar or Cocal- go to beach- maybe Herrudura/smash Tica from Cocal?- might save the $$ for Thursday Friday and take the night off from Ticas....could also wait until Thursday to go to Jaco and stay one more night at SL Thursday......... Day 4 Play Golf (Los Suenos?) or other excursion/smash Tica from Cocal Friday......... Day 5 Manuel Antonio/smash Tica from Cocal Saturday......... Day 6 Bus back to San Jose/nap/smash Tica?.....shower/catch plane So it's really just San Jose and Jaco with daytime excursions from each....sounds too ambitious? yeah it would be awesome for some mentoring on this....I will take any help I can....thanks again guys |

I haven't...only booked airfare so far....was going to wing it kinda and book excursions when I get there but that is my rough idea of what my thoughts were- just looking to relax, enjoy a vacation in a new spot and get laid- I just haven't done the monger thing before and I heard CR is the place to do it.....I need to book the hotels but was wondering if those choices and general ideas were good for a newbie in my situation....from what I've read it kinda seems like they are but not sure.... |

Having your plane ticket is perfect. In my opinion, take an orange cab or an Uber to the Sportsmen Lodge for your room, and dont make any other plans. There are ladies at the sportsman to break you in. Plenty of local places for inexpensive action ($30-40) and you need to visit the world famous Del Rey Day excursions are easily ordered at the hotel. They pick you up and deliver you back. Keep it simple |

I don’t know anyone who actually comes to CR to play golf. Plenty of other excursions that are not possible in US. Major hassle to bring clubs on an international trip if it’s not the focus of the vacation. At least a minor annoyance to play with rental clubs. Maybe members that have played a round in CR have an opinion. |

Trust me, you will be too occupied with them to play golf. Save it for pu*sy prision, ie., USA. |

Gringo driving alone is an invitation for a car theft, but the thieves are not very competent, so you will get a bit of assault tossed in with your carjacking. Taxis, Uber, public transport is good for short trips, hiring a recommended driver for long trips. .. |

A good first timer day trip is the 3 n 1 excursion that takes you to the Doka coffee plantation, Poas Volcano National Park, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. It is up in the mountains and it is beautiful. |
