Post subject:  Recommendation for trip between Christmas and New Years..

Ok guys, sorry if this duplicates any information but I am on a limited time line:

Me:
Early 40s
Single, dress nice, overweight, 6'5" so I am not afraid of slightly sketchy place, also sociable and can charm if need be.

Has been to a lot of the major places around the world, Pattaya, TJ, KL, German FKKs....so I would say I am fairly experienced

Am not much of a drinker or party type, ladies are my big weakness.

Just picked up a job with a new place of employment and am starting in the New Year, dropped the old job last week. Decided to take a trip, have never been to Central of South America before.

Budget is not a huge issue, looking for rooms at ~100 a night but am willing to go higher or lower depending on the quality. Same for the Chicas, not going to drop $300 an hour unless she is a solid 10 and an absolute freak, but also not looking for a $10 back ally tussle with a hag.

Options on the table ATM: San Jose, Cartagena, MedellĂn.

Was heavily leaning toward Columbia until I found this forum. So my questions are as follows:

Which city do you think is the best?
Which hotel would you recommend?
Places to find company? A nice massage? Etc. Etc.

Give me your opinions on what a guy like me would find most enjoyable.

Get your feet wet and stay at La Amistad, Sportsman or Zona2, all are good but the All inclusive at La Amistad is a deal you cannot beat. You will have plenty of choices all in a fairly small area. La Amistad does not have girls that come in unless they are escorted by a date however SL and Zona have girls on site most of the time. Hotel Del Rey is 24/7. I have many a time woke up at 2-3 in the AM and decided to throw on some clothes and see what the DR had to offer. Usually ended up bringing home one that would stay till breakfast. If you speak good Spanish hit Colombia and Medellin otherwise CR is fun to get your feet wet.

After doing some research about Columbia on other websites it really seems the sticking point is my weak Spanish skills.

In which case I am going to be in San Jose. My decision now is whether to stay at SL or La Amistad.

The all inclusive seems like a good deal, but honestly I want to try wide variety of local food.

My issue with SL is some have said it is a younger party crowd.

The one question I would ask that is most pertinent is are the rooms at SL separated from the bar area enough that I won't be disturbed by the noise and come out at 4am and tell them young whipper snappers to get off my lawn? If so the 30% discount at SL seems like a good deal.

Of course I will get a CRT VIP Card because hell, this website has already paid for itself through just an hour of reading alone. Thanks for the quick reply too, I really appreciate it! Going to book my flight out for Monday!

I almost laughed out loud at SL being the younger party crowd. At 40 you will be younger than the average, especially during the day. It is usually a fun group at the bar. It is not an all night party. At midnight everything goes quiet. If you are still looking for a party then its time to catch a taxi to HDR where the bar is always open.

There are many rooms at SL that are away from the bar area. Go to the SL website floor plans page. The layouts are great for people like me who are trying to remember the name of a room. But it does not give you info on how they fit together or how far from the bar they are.

Courtyard rooms are near the bar and will be loud until about midnight. There is very little worry about noise anywhere in SL after midnight. Club house rooms are on the same level, they are away from the bar and are quiet.

Modern wing rooms are a step up in size and a little better quality. The two floorplans for modern wing fit on top of each other. What is labeled as internet area backs up to the back end of the bar. Rooms near the internet area can get a little more noise, but nothing like courtyard where your hotel room door opens 5 feet from a bar table.

Mansion wing room are even bigger and nicer. You walk through the modern wing and down a stairway. Quietest part of the hotel. Again two floors. Some rooms are getting to be a good walk up and down stairs from the bar.

With the 30% off right now SL is a great deal. They can hold your CRT card at the SL front desk. When you sign-up it is a drop-down menu choice. It will be there when you check-in. Front desk staff at SL is fabulous.

The crowd at the SL is hardly young.

I would recommend the Castillo (which is the LA's sister hotel, both owned by the same owner). If you opt for the all-inclusive, you can eat (and drink) in either location. And you don't have to eat at either.

The all-inclusive pays for itself with one meal a day (lunch or dinner) and a drink.

You'll find Tico food underwhelming - it is comfort food (with some exceptions) and fairly pricey. By all means try a 'soda' (Like Soda Peru) or a restaurant like La Criollita (https://goo.gl/maps/7kLwtZFLkdP2) or the 'tourist trap for Ticos' Restaurante Nuestra Tierra (https://goo.gl/maps/bA2EWkgwGa92) - which is great for breakfast.

The most you should ever pay for a 'short time session' ( any "hour" or so i.e., not overnight) is $100.

Do NOT pay $300

Oh I won't, not only would I be ripping myself off I would be making certain providers of services think their services were worth more than they really are, which of course ruins the negotiation power of connoisseurs of said services like myself.

(Although I will suggest at least one point in your life experience what $300 gets you for an hour in Pattaya)

Well first I stayed at the penthouse hotel, which is so over the top it is hard to believe.

Went downstairs to the gogo next door, picked the cutest girl in the place and asked her to grab some friends, started with a 12 hand massage which leads to a wide variety various things (honestly it was a bit overwhelming), bottle service shows up and a hell of a party happens in the room, and afterwards when you get hungry call the front desk and a short while later a small army of busboys show up with food, a long table, half a dozen chairs, and a Thai feast laid out right there for seven people...at 3AM.

End up keeping my two favorites until I wake up the next morning, and then have an hour or so of more fun, and then my favorite sticks around for the rest of the day. Total damage was about 10,000 Baht, which at the time was about $300. Though I did spend more the next day on my favorite, and have visited her a few times when I went back to Thailand.

That was my second night ever in Pattaya and learned why it has earned such a reputation.....the place is decadence personified.

Here is a link to the room I was in:

Best advice I've found is to just hang out a bit and keep the girls interested. You will succeed!

$300 for 6 girls, bottle party and food for all and 2 stayed overnight and tips ?
When was this 1970 :?: :?: :?: :P :P :P
Sounds a bit over the top especially since the prices in Pattaya I knew in 2000 to the present.
More power to you if you pulled it off. :D :D :D

Girls were like 700 baht each, got a good price on the bar fine because it was a slow as hell week.....right around Christmas. It was all supposed to be short time but once the party started they just stayed. Food and drink were a lot less expensive than I thought of as well.
