Personally, I wouldn't go to CR until I was 50. All the hotels are designed specifically for older guys.

Where you stay depends on what you need in a hotel.

Obvio, you want a chica friendly (no fee) hotel. Your choices are:

The Sportsman's Lodge. Rooms near the bar (courtyard) are noisy until closing. Girls in the bar. Great manager. Owner is a prince.

La Amistad / Castillo - two hotels, same top notch management, bracketing the SL. No un-escorted girls (not allowed into solicit at the bar). Both bars can be great places to hang out and talk 'shop'. Both offer all inclusive packages - 3 meals, well drinks, laundry, etc. Both have good / excellent food.

Zona II - yes, it's a hotel. Great rooms for phucking - bar and chicas downstairs. The bar is turning Tico (but nothing wrong with that).

Hotel Little Havana. Nice bar. Working girls. Good rooms for the price.

Hotel Taromina. It's a regular hotel (elevator, nice rooms - especially the 4th floor). Casino. Decent Italian restaurant. A few girls in the sports bar.

Hotel Morazan. Never stayed there. Just down the block from the HDR.

The Hotel del Ray. Get a room on the highest floor you can. Girls 24/7 downstairs in the Blue Marlin. $11 fee (last I checked) to take one upstairs. It is the legend.

But the girls' vaginas are designed for everyone! i would say that the Sportsmens is the optmum choice for a newbie, lots of guys usually around to give advice.

I don't know of a hotel with younger guys.
The DelRey and the Sportsmans, you can find younger girls. 18 and up.
Good Luck!

Hang on to your hat, you are in for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. That's what happened to me the first time down in CR.

My first visit in Dec of 2003, I was 49, well, 49 and a 1/2. I had a blast!!!

I am officially refuting your argument!

But...

I remember my non-monger days with affection, the pursuits, the challenges, the "real" GFE's, because you had a "REAL" girlfriend...

When these REALLY young guys come down here, they may get addicted. It just may spoil all that for them. :? :? :?

The Hotel Del Rey.

A lot of the older gentlemen here loath the HDR as we so affectionately refer to her as, because it's a cesspool of sharks who are good at convincing you that she will give good service then once in the room, work harder at getting out of the work than doing the work itself.

Many have tired also of the loudness, the crowdedness late at night, the hood is a little low rent, it's loud 24/7 and there are tricksters afoot.

But...

I still remember my first visit, it was like I was a K*D in Disney World with my parents credit card...

It's not what it once was, hot friendly cooperative gorgeous babes jamming the place 24/7 willing to rock your world for a fair price, but it's still the wildest game in town, no matter what the time, and in the evenings, hot babes abound and you don't have to go trolling on the mean streets at night, especially if you are new and inexperienced and by yourself. :?

I always recommend first timers stay there, ESPECIALLY if you're young. You're in the legend, the belly of the beast, wild n crazy times, sometimes slow in the mornings and afternoons, but guaranteed something is there worth your while most of the time, the other places cannot boast this so most often you have to go looking for love all around town at night. :(

After your first wild exuberant experience, you can decide if HDR will be your home or you may contemplate one of the sleepy classier places with various benefits like food, etc., or the SL (Sportsmen's Lodge) which is a classy fun place with a much smaller group of girls, mostly available from say 4 PM to Midnight at the latest I believe.

If you want to make friends with fellow N Americans, You can find them at HDR or SL or even some of the lessor places, and if you alert people here about a week before you arrive, almost guaranteed other travelers will respond and you might get to hang with some real experienced mongers who can give you good advice and show you around.

So if you want wild n crazy, HDR, if you want a classier place a couple blocks away quieter, nicer hood, and still girls right at your fingertips, the SL. If you're not adventurous about eating local cuisine and going around looking for restaurants, then the places mentioned that adds meals to your stay works.

I still say go for wild n crazy, you can stay at these other places when you get old....

If it's your first time stay at the Hotel Del Rey...! What more could you want? Sports, (cheap) gambling, tight slots but loose sluts (jp) lol; and their bar menu isn't half bad! (Try the hot wings for 5.000c, can't go wrong!)

I land tomorrow at 9:30am - I WILL be staying at the SL this time - and I will be taking the advice gleaned from the boards and request a room away from the bar perimeter if possible.

The Del Rey is cool, but that 6.000c just to take a "guest" to your room is lame, imo.

Just because it is his first time there is no reason to slum it at Del Rey. Just stay at the best place

I personally recommend the La Amistad for a first timer. It allows you to get away from the action for a break. SL is great, but every girl there will know your business as you escort one back to your room. The all inclusive at LA gives you a chance at great food and booze for an extra $10/day. Also, there is a lot of experience sitting at the bar who you can chat with not be constantly hit up to buy a drink. And, there is no chica fee at LA
