Good day
SORRY for asking the newbie questions, but i just booked my first trip and will arrive 4-14, at approx 12:30pm, and thus don't have time to read all the pertinent info.
I'm a long time traveler to the Philippines, so I've got an idea of how the "game" is played.

What are the places to stay?
How do I get there from the airport? Taxi, arrange pick-up through hotel?

Any info is GREATLY appreciated

If you prefer being adventurous you can take a taxi from the airport..they have kiosks.they are safe and will not cheat you

For me personally I love Taormina hotel the best:) but there are others like Sportsmen Lodge and La Amistad etc which are livable too:)

Pay for your VIP membership as it will save you a fair amount of money if you remember to use it. You will have no problems meeting people at the SL and making friends so you do not need to overthink things as you will have plenty of like minded people there to make plans and show you around.

Have fun and enjoy your trip.

Already paid for my VIP (i think). Hopefully I will be able to get the card when i arrive. What sort of discounts is the card used for?
Definitely looking forward to the trip. I know its a very short notice and NO planning done, but I think I'll be OK.
I LOVE the Philippines, but it is such a LONG trip to get there.

You will get drink, food and lodging discounts and some girls give CRT discounts as well........ Ok I'm full of shit about the girls giving CRT discounts but I could not resist. The Del Rey does nothing for CRT members other than occasionally banning them from the premises. SL, La Amistad-Costillo , Zona2-Hotel Little Havana, are the primary CRT discounters but look up the list of businesses that give CRT discounts in one of the threads here, but I am sure the Admin has not kept up on which ones still give discounts. Even just using it at SL, La Amistad, and Zona2 you will save many times over what you invested for the membership.

When i first started going to the Philippines (2004) the girls would practically BEG you to take there photos, and even the bars were very "photo friendly".
Now days, almost no photography allowed in bars (except certain special events).
Are the bars/girls in Costa Rica "photo friendly"?

As a general answer...no. Probably a lot of the same reasons.
