I'm 37, I live in Vegas, and I got divorced in 2015. I had an on again off again GF here for 2 years, a 25 yo half Persian cocktail droper, she's crazy as hell. Anyway after that went to hell I started the dating rat race again. And recently my entire mind got f-ing blown. I was making good progress with a girl and then she cold shouldered me, long story short, her friend told me she liked me but she wanted me to try harder. WTF? Right? Well that's pretty much all these girls here it's unreal! So after three years of utter frustration and the realization that even when you're not paying for it, you're paying for it, honestly more. I decided that I was gonna change the script.

After researching on line I found this site after deciding that Costa Rica was for me. Now, for lack of a better word, when it comes to this, I'm an idiot. I don't have any idea what to do.

I'm coming 5/2 to 5/5. I'm planning on staying at SL, it looks nice. In either president suite or el Leon I don't know if el leon is worth the extra cash. I was going to do DR but it just looks dumpy and I'm a hotel snob as it is. But again I have nothing to really base that on.

I don't know if it's acceptable to take girls from DR back to SL via cab?

If my plane lands at 7:40pm how long will customs take.

How long of a cab ride from the airport to SL?

Are the day tours worth it?

Should I check out key largo?

Is A trip to Jaco worth it?

I have no idea what I'm doing, I just want to be on the other side of this hookup equation for once.

Lol, you are screwed, save your money and stay home.........

Ok just kidding, you will be screwed though, and you are going to be a K*D in the candy store. Depending on how many planes are arriving when you get there you might take 20 minutes to clear customs and get your bags or it might take over an hour. No telling until you are there. In the baggage area is a couple of liquor stores where you will find the best prices on liquor in San Jose so if you want a bottle or two that is the time to buy it.

Cab rides at that time of night from airport to SL probably 20-30 minutes.

First trip there I would not plan anything to difficult, as it will give you a reason to return. If you are even halfway social, you will meet plenty of like minded individuals that will be more than happy to explore with you. Being free to not have to watch the clock and do what comes up spur of the moment are the way vacations should be.

Definitely check out key largo as it is only about 100 steps from the doors of the Rey. I go back and forth between the 2 frequently.

Since you are there only 3 days, and its your first time, personally I would not bother with going to Jaco, save it for another trip. There is a lot to absorb in the gulch and plenty to keep you occupied.

Have a great time and maybe we will see each other.

I've gotten some good advice in PMs and in the forum in regards to this. One of my remaking questions is in regards to lodging. I'm booking my room on Thursday. But I am torn between staying at the SL which i think is more to my liking or just going full emersion and staying at HDR. Being that I have no actual experience in CR it's hard to make an informed decision.

When I was in the military, I lived in Japan and worked in PI, so this concept isn't new to me but CR is.

I would have thought your room would have been booked. I have never stayed at the Rey but have been up to some of its rooms. For me too noisy, too run down, irritated by the chica fee.

I would suggest La Amistad with its all inclusive for under 100 per night, SL, Zona 2 and in that order. I have stayed at all 3 places many times and even though my personal favorite is the Penthouse at Zona 2, my friends that visit, all prefer La Amistad as their first choice.

I have a HDR booked through booking dot com that I can cancel up to the 29th. I'm trying to figure out if it's better to stay in the middle of everything or stay a click away and get rides back and forth. I really do like SL better, at least the pictures, but HDR seems a lot more convenient.

My biggest gripe for the Del Rey is the friggin chica fee. I would normally bring up 2-5 guests a day, so that is an additional 22-55 dollars a day for nothing added to my bill. I would much rather spend that on food, drinks, girls. The way I see it is, you are already getting my dollars from the room fee, my drink and food purchases, which can also be substantial. Getting nickle and dime'd on taking guests to my room is an irritation I will not tolerate, hence I have never stayed there. La Amistad is 600 feet to the front door of the SL, and the SL is 1760 feet to the side entrance to the Del Rey. Easy walking distances. At night take a cab if you do not feel safe or are a bit intoxicated. I think the atmosphere at SL is more laid back and the girls are not like hawks looking to have their next meal.

I think I want to do one of the day tours at SL. I have taken people's suggestions under advisement and I've decided that if I don't want to go when the time comes, I just won't and I'll stay in San Jose.

But the two that I am thinking are, the Tortuga Island Cruise or the Irazu volcano, Cartagena Basilica and Orosi Valley.

The arsenal volcano and baldi hot springs looks cool too but it's from 0800 to 2200 and that's to long.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these?

In my opinion the Baldi Hot Springs should be on everybody's bucket list--amazing and a beautiful drive from San Jose--the flowers & colors are worth the trip!

Tours depend on you objectives for this first trip.
Do you want to do both sight seeing and mongering ?
Than do half day tours from SJ.
If you want to do hard core mongering then do not do any tours. At your age you can do at least 3 chicas a day. Choise of independents and MPs.
If you want to do sight seeing and light mongering then do Arenal/Hot springs one day ( about 12 hours) and Tortugero one day about 12 hours next day. Both involve about 6 to 7 hours bus /boat travel.

"3 a day" Jesus Cristo! I'll be lucky if I have any gas left after 4, for the whole trip. Any more than that and I'm gonna have to find this Russ guy...

I am said 37 year old, and I am reasonably certain that I do not have the drive for 3 a day without help.

Okay. I have not been 37 for more than 30 years so I am obviously rather fuzzy about it all.
