I initially was looking to head to CR in March, but now it looks like it’s going to be the beginning of May (2nd -7th or 8th. I need to do some more reading up before making the trip (I want to leave now!) but there is so much info here. As far as hotels, since this is my first time I’m thinking La Amistad so I'll be paying what ever their rate is at the time. I have Google flight tracker set up and right now the prices are fluctuating. I generally like to book my personal travel a few weeks out before takeoff, so I’m looking at booking everything around mid-April. Anyone think that this might be too late to book my trip? |

La Amistad's rates are the same for the entire year, and just depend on the size room. Plane fares will vary |

I think you should concentrate on the air fares. Very unlikely the hotels will fill up. La Amistad and Castillo are sister hotels, same ownership and pretty much same rates. I think most rooms at the Castillo are better because the complete hotel has recently been remodeled on the inside. |

I'm flying out next week, but I bought my plane ticket in early October. I have also been using Google Flight tracker, and it seems that from what I have seen the lowest prices are at 2 - 3 months before the flight. After 2 months, the rate seemed to steadily climb, and now a week before the flight the rate is more than double what I paid. There was one day about 6 weeks ago where the rate quadrupled for one day. Not sure if that was a glitch in the system or not. |

Just booked $405 united out of Houston today for a trip 2 weeks from now to SJO. Tons of flights out of here and that’s about as good as I could find without using miles. |

Right now I am at $301 out of Baltimore. That's up from 271 |
