Hi guys! My name's Tony. Just want to ask, when is the best month to visit Costa Rica? I am planning to visit the country this year with my wife.

Depends on what you want to do while you are there. Do you want the beach, do you want mountains and cool, do you want inland and hot, are you going to be mongering with your wife and staying mainly in the gulch????

Ok now that we have that info do you want it hotter than hell or in the 70's and rainy. This info is for Jaco

On average, the temperatures are always high.
A lot of rain (rainy season) falls in the months: May, June, July, August, September, October and November.
Jacó has dry periods in January, February and March.
On average, the warmest month is March.
On average, the coolest month is October.
September is the wettest month. This month should be avoided if you don't like too much rain.
February is the driest month.

If you want to be away from the working girls then try Playa Tamarindo, Samara, Tambor, Malpais or head south to Golfito or Puerto Jimenez.

Thanks for the info. I guess, I have to postpone our trip to March, so that it won't rain when I visit the beach.

Do not wait till March aim for end of October or beginning of November.
The rain should be tapering off by then. Also if it rains it will be in the afternoon or evening and you will appreciate the cooling down after the hot morning at the beach.
Of course with climate change the weather can be unpredictable but such is life. :) :) :)

Personally I prefer to be at the beach during the rainy season as it is much cooler, still warm though. The water is also quite warm anyway so the rain is a nice addition plus it keeps the sun from turning you into a piece of bacon.

Me and some friends coming down end of July. What's your opinion on that time of year ?

I have been down a few times in July and since it is considered the rainy season you will get some rain that can be quite heavy at times. It is a rare thing for me to be prevented from doing what I want in CR because or the rain. The big difference from the US is we tend to think cold when it rains. Down in CR the rain for me feels warm and rarely does it cause me to feel chilled. I enjoy a good thunderstorm and sitting somewhere having a drink and watching the rain fall is relaxing. In the San Jose area temps might get down to high 50's at night when it gets cold but for the most part you will be in the 60-70's at night. Daytime will swing from 70's to 80's usually. It is a good idea though to take a small umbrella if you have room in your suitcase or carry on or you can buy one there for about $10-12.00

The rainy season is better. Less crowded beaches, not as hot and humid, less expensive, only rains in the late morning/early afternoons usually, rarely is it all day.

Will definitely keep that in mind. The weather has been also unpredictable in Vegas. I experienced snow here in Vegas, few years ago. Climate change is really crazy.
