Hi, I've booked a trip next week (June 17-24) for San Jose and Jaco but the weather forecast looks grim to say the least. I don't know if the rain forecast are all day events or a couple hours in the afternoon. It also looks like it's going to be overcast. Should I cancel this and re-book? Is anyone who can give some insight? I don't mind a period of rain per day but overcast and rainy all day, every day I'd rather stay home. Thanks in advance. |

I was there in June a couple of years ago & it rained every afternoon for 2-3 hrs. All it did was cool everything off. I wouldn't cancel if I were you. CostaReeker |

It's the rainy season (Central Valley & Pacific side) until September - October. Plus the entire country has rainier than normal. Some websites say the dry season for the Central Valley & Pacific side is mid-December to April. Late September through November always seems like a transition time to me. In the Caribbean northeast we get 120" of rain annually (+/-) and we don't have a "dry" season per se. Typically it doesn't rain all day (usually in the afternoon) but mi novia has been telling me that there's been several days of solid rain this past month. Volcanic activity is up (Turrialba, Poás, Rincón de la Vieja) and maybe that's affecting the rain. |

But I'd rather be rained on in Costa Rica than be in pu*sy prison. |

Personally I love the rain. If you have to be somewhere then sometimes it can be inconvienent but if you are making your plans as you go then pura vida. Sitting at a bar having a drink and bullshitting or playing with the locals is not affected by the rain. Have fun..... |

You're simply going stir crazy looking for angles you missed setting the trip up. Relax, go, have a blast. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |

Perhaps I was being a bit dramatic but I was hoping to do activities during the day vs. being a barfly for the week. If it works out that way then so be it. Thanks. |

Try some whitewater rafting. You will already be wet so the rain won't matter. Its better to do the excursions on your first trips down to CR. After a few trips you will probably forget about anything outside the gulch and Jaco, spending your days and nights in the bars and brothels. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk |

Rain or shine, earthquakes, volcanos blowing off, the p*ssy keeps getting served. ![]() ![]() More than once, when all my buddies were busy or had a pussss excuse, I would come down by myself on a weekend, just a 3 day all by my lonesome getaway. I would stay at the HDR and engage one after another, new meets, old favs and mp investigations, pausing only to eat or get a little exercise walking up and down the main drag. It could have been snowing for all I cared... ![]() Never a bad time to come except Easter weekend. Some guys complain about Christmas but I would often find non pros, regular girls with regular jobs earning Christmas present money, Really strange but wonderful phenomena. Moral of the story...Never a bad time to come ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

+1 on the whitewater rafting trips. The rivers are much faster in the green (rainy) season. IMO the best rivers are the Reventazon, Sarapiquí and Pacuare rivers. Most of the trips from downtown San Jose are day trips and priced pretty reasonably. Also green season in San Jose has a lot fewer guys competing for the ladies, at least until you get near Halloween and it becomes a sausage fest. That said, I generally avoid Jaco if it is rainy heavily. The streets in town will flood and the roads to and from the city have been known to wash out, stranding tourists. |

Unless the primary purpose of your trip is outdoor activities there`s nothing to get washed out. Enjoy. |
