I am thinking of coming back in October 2016 to San Jose I think this is the last month of the rainy season.

Will it just be raining in the afternoon or will there be streets Flooding and streets washing out?

What will it be like out at Jaco beach at that time of year?

October is typically the rainiest month of the year in CR. It's the end of the rainy season and just before the dry season.

But rain should not affect you since most of us have fun mostly indoors. :P

Jaco will be very hot and very humid for most of the day and evening. You'll sweat a lot, even if you don't sweat a lot.

The Cocal scene is outside, around a pool, with some of it under a roof. The climate is as hot as the girls.

San Jose is at about 3,500 feet above sea level, so it's usually in the 80's during the day....... not very humid unless it's raining. An all-day rain is rare, even during the rainy season. It usually rains for a couple of hours in the afternoon or early evening.

Thanks for the info. I do not mind the rain that much as long as it is not flooded with2 -3 ft of water

I noticed the police cars and tourist busses have a snorkel to their engine air intake.

If you are just hanging out in downtown or at the beach then even when it rains like hell it will not be a problem. I find it quite pleasant and still walk around in shorts and flip flops during rainy season but do have an umbrella handy. If you are out trying to do outdoors things ATV's, Ziplines etc that might be an issue but for the most part heading to bars, MP's and restaurants is no big deal.

1139 post and u don't know yet that u can't wear shorts and flip flops? just kidding. It's always amazed me the threads about what to wear. I pack nothing but shorts. I use to try the Jean thing but they flew to CR in my suitcase and then they flew back home W/o ever being worn. It's to damn HOT for jeans!

Ok you got me on that one. Actually I do wear jeans if going out to do family stuff, however when I am drinking and out with friends in the gulch, you will always see me in shorts and flip flops. Home at the house and running errands also shorts and flip flops.

Phucking RAIN!
IMO the worst time of year to visit CR!
Unless you love rain for some strange reason.
I find it very depressing in October reminded me of Seattle.

I have been to San Jose, CR, every October for the last 10 years for a week or so. I cannot remember a single day when I felt depressed.

I'm addicted to Sweets - - - - and they all live in San Jose.

It's very hard to be depressed at any time in San Jose.
